Reputations are Falling

Has anyone else noticed all the white 7s showing up on myLot. People on my friends list and who respond to my discussions have lost as much as 2 reputation points (stars). What's up?

I hadn't seen any white 7s all day until now. When your user reputation is between 65.55 and 75.55 that is the colour that will appear. Moreplusses will make it go up and more negatives will make it go down. I have seen stars changing this week and I pointed it out to some users too. It all depends on the ratings that others give and there does not appear (hopefully) to be a glitch.

I interact with basically the same folks all the time. I've noticed over the last week or so that some of the more outspoken folks are falling from 9-8 to a 7. That adds up to lots of white sevens on my discussions. Mine fell, then went up, and is back down now. I've had some major disagreements in a few discussions, isn't it against guidelines to neg rate for merely disagreeing? I know why my star went down. I went off on a couple of folks who are always 'condesendingly insulting' of people on my discussions. I was reported I'm sure. Politics is getting to be a real hot topic on myLot. Anyway, I don't rate neg just because someone disagrees with me. And if that is why stars are falling, there ought to be a way to track it. If it is because I'm done taking the insults, so be it.

Yea, I know. lol I'm taking it with a grain of salt as far as MY star goes. I'm here to discuss what matters to me. Not be popular. I just hate it for my friends who oftentimes I disagree with, but enjoy the banter anyway. I happen to think it is one particular person or maybe two, who vehemently disagree and with whom I've had words. I'm sure they want me gone from here. Oh well.

If you have reason to think that you are being targetted then you can send a PM to GoAskAlice ans request him to investigate.

I noticed my ratings have been low. I only get in political discussions, so where are the negative ratings coming from. Any guesses? I never rate people, I think it is stupid, but I think I may have to start rating some people up to counter the opposition. Then again in mylot, I do not understand the reason for ratings. Why is there a reason for ratings here?

FatCat, you're never rude, you always have good input, stay on topic etc. Your reputation I KNOW is because you are not on the left in politics. But hey, you're popular with ME.

Mine seems to be going back and fourth from 89/100 to 90/100, back to 89 /100 and then again to 90/100. When you go into certain topics especially religion and politics, its expected. Those discussions attract the most narrow minded of Mylotters. If you don't say what they want you to say, you get down rated.

I just noticed it cause for about a year I was at 8. Suddenly, after a few discussion that included one or two people, that I called out for their condesending remarks, I got downgraded to a 7. Went up to 8 for a few hours, then back down to a 7. I'm not saying I am 100% correct or that I'm never rude. I can be when it's done to me. I give as good as I get. I just got sick of being talked to like a fool and having it implied or said outright that I'm racist or intolerant. I'm sick of the game playing and double standard is all. Guess I'll pay the price for saying like I see it.

When you go into certain topics especially religion and politics, its expected. I experimented this and I lost 1 point star this week, however it is mysterious somewhere. Each time I lost a point in the past, my rating in the interest where I was neg-rated went down, and this time I could not find an interest where my rank went seriously down.

I've been a white star for awhile. So I guess my rep is tarnished? JMO, but I find those with lower stars sometimes have more interesting, evocative posts/responses/comments. Maybe because they don't care if they piss anyone off.

Sometimes all it takes is to express an opinion that differs from someone else's.. I can't help it, I think that's pretty juvenile. And I guess I view it as a source of censoring.. Trying to censor what people hear! There's a lot of that which goes on in politics these days and you'd think it'd be a red flag to people!! (I.e. if you have to try to silence someone's opinion, then you really don't have enough good support or backing of your own opinion.)

I have not been here to notice any changes but when I was active, it seemed to happen to a certain group of people regularly. At the time it was said to be because of negative ratings given by other members to a discussion. I was never sure myself what the cause was but if it is happening to more than 1 member, the perhaps there is some sort of glitch in the system. You can always ask, but I am not sure that you would receive a satisfactory or fully explained reply. But does the ratig really matter if you are starting good discussions and getting decent responses? I tend to think that your friends knnow who you are, what you are about and will respond to your discussions if they are interested, irrespective of the star rating.

hi debrakcarey I have been busy lately so h ave not noticed to omjch about the reputations but onc er her maybe a year or so ago alomost every one had their reputations drop,it was a really weird glitch noboey had any reds or blues and few yellows but it took them several dayhs and they repaired the glitch. Now i am mot sure but if you have say been maybe red and ropoed down say to a five I would contact admins and tell them that suddenly your star fell several stars down and they will look into it. I had a blue star years back as a newbie and two guys got madc at me for my discussion on smoking being bad for your health.I went from blue tento a five star and fifty from one hundred. they caught the two trolls who bragged to them about fixing that old hag hatley. Their bragging got them kicked out and my star was put up to red and several years back when the glitch happened Alex told me and Diana he was moving us u to blue so there i have stayed. I think the rating system is flawed as someone can minus with no reason but pu re malice and bring down a star. thats so mean it boggles my mind as what good does it do the othegt your star drops way down suddenly do contact the admins.

I have noticed this too and actually I used to be a 10 but I think when I responded to a discussion asking about gay marriage and I gave my honest opinion, in no way did I think that it was rude or anything, but I guess around here, you can't state your opinion, or in certain topics for that point, because if you do, people will give you a negative rating. Which I don't think that is right all. But what can you do? I tend to stay away from those discussions, but in any point I know I will always give my opinion on whatever the discussion is and not worry so much about my reputation points going up or down.

Surprised to see you at a seven. You've been stable at eight for quite awhile. I limit my discussion in politics and religion because no matter what I say there my rating goes down the toilet in a hurry. I'm impressed that you are able to keep yours as high as it is. You get lots of pluses from me here though. Lots of good thought provoking content whether I agree with you or not. I learned from an experiment trying to boost my wife's star rating that I have too much of a life outside of MyLot to be able to make much of an impact on anyone's star. Hope to see you back at eight soon.

Thank you my friend. I guess there are some hard core liberals who got irratated at me recently. Unfortunately, my life is work and then home. I'd rather pay for internet than cable, and I quit dating about five years ago. Now, if I go anywhere, it is to a family function.

...and i can't understand also why some scores in parenthesis are too big then the star is not Red. I noticed the reputation is low ? Why is it so ? In my mind i thought if one reach thousand and thousand of scores then it follows that she will have that 9 or ten reputation and will have a red star.

Yes, the number in parenthesis is our points for responses, I think. And the STAR is our reputation.

You can find the explanation for why they go up and down at the guidelines. There are links to the guidelines posted at the early responses here in this discussion if you want to read them.

I hope you are able to post a lot of quality discussions. Usually the start would drop if people would be giving you negative ratings. So be careful not to offend anyone here who you think will take it seriously and give you the"=". Have a great day, and hope your star goes up. I'll try to boost you up!

It took me only one topic to go from 10 to 7 ( happened a long time ago ). There are some delicate topics where you are not allowed to have a different point of view, i remember an episode from Seinfeld where they were saying after each remark : " Not that there is anything wrong with it ". Another thing that happens to you for example is that you debate politics and there is a lot of passion in those debates so it is very likely that someone will do more than just disagree with you. And the worst are religious topics because none of us wants to accept that he may be wrong there, i mean if you are wrong in politics you will pay the price in 4 or 8 years but if you are wrong in what you believe about God you will pay the price forever. This is the reason for why many atheists are so angry about any religious thing, because they believe that if all the people will get rid of their religion then God won`t send us all to hell.

Well, so be it. I'm doomed! to have a low star, that is. lol I'm getting to the place where I just don't have the patience I used to, I mean...our very LIVES and FREEDOM are at stake, not just the next election. As for religious discussions...I say what I believe. And I do try to be nice. I do understand that there are many good folks who don't believe about God as I do. And I sincerely want to help them understand what I believe to be true. If they don't agree, it's their soul, their life. In politics....IT'S MY LIFE they're screwing with. lol

Hello debra... I think it has to do with people taking their frustration out on mylotters when their anger is really toward our failed economy, government, and right wing political machines... I have gone from a 7 to an 8 but that was many moons ago. I really like white but the high number is great too...

what right wing political machine? Oh, you mean the one that tries to FIX the mess in Washington, like Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan? Yep, or they're taking out their frustration on me for expressing MY FRUSTRATION with the left wing political machines! Think we'll ever see ten again?

I do not believe that we will ever see 10. Exactly, THAT right wing political machine. The machine is losing steam only because of our nations depravity. It is getting worse day by day. I feel like I am in the land of the lost because from when I was younger, we actually were more accountable, and used more reason. They have thrown reason and accountability out the window. Wait, I think I hear Jack Nicholson coming down the hall... I knew there was a reason I didnt like those south paws!!!
