Why Don't People Do More Stuff for FREE?

On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (where one gets the REAL news 
), it was reported that the US Postal Service is cutting Saturday-delivery in order to save 20+ million dollars.
Jon sarcastically commented that he couldn't see how 'delivering a letter for forty cents' could POSSIBLY fail in a market where you can get the SAME message delivered FOR FREE electronically (although it's pretty short-sighted to call it FREE if you have to PAY for the connection!)
But essentially, getting a job ISN'T about 'making money'---oh, I'm sure you're hypnotized (as I was and am again sometimes) into thinking that THE reason for getting a job IS making money; but in the end it's just about 'finding something to do that's not "a waste of time".'
Even myLot! Oh, I'm sure that I would still find fun & wisdom on myLot even if I DID do it for FREE; but chances are that I would find something else 'more worth my time' if I weren't ALSO getting paid MONEY here 
But why don't fast-food places just 'cut you a deal' and have you pay for ONLY the most-expensive thing you ordered (without having you ASK FOR IT like a pathetic miser

They don't do stuff for free because other people won't do stuff for free for them as well.

Cause nobody does something for free for me either, i always have to give something in return be it material or other things. For some reason, people use favors as currency here and people stay friends for connections and so that they an do things easier. Its crazy how people just use people. Apparently everything we do, every action we take is a form of nvestment,

I have done things for free but even there it seems that there are people who give me the feeling they can do it better. Even in church there are people who feel they can do better what I am doing except for the dishes after pot luck. It would be nice if people who are on government subsides would volunteer more.

so i finally get to find out why thry are cutting back deliveries on saturday. i knew it was about budget cuts!

well, among other things ... point is, people aren't being ordered-around (by the USPS) on Saturday---the true Sabbath.
