Early in the morning I have already prepared the fish and marinated it in soy sauce. I bought also this grill made in aluminum. It costs me about $6 for the grill. It's nothing fancy. It doesn't look cool or beautiful but would do the job nevertheless. And so I have problem making the coal to start burning at first .  At first I have used pieces of old newspapers to start the fire in the coal but it won't do the job. Then I just saw old piece of wood in our front yard. I just Cut it into small pieces and use to start the fire and that made the charcoal to burn and start the fire. So the product was a good tasting meal. My mom loved it so much. And I first she is not that pleaded seeing me making some mess while cooking. After eating  she plans to buy tilapia tomorrow so we would cook it on grill again.  Anyway I don't eat rice for a week now. With nice grilled fish daily, i don't feel the need to eat rice though. This is another way to eat healthy and hopefully  eating healthy foods with out much fat that I would lose weight fast.

In Japan, grilled mackerel is a normal meal that can be eaten at any meal of the day. They salt the mackerel and just simply grill it, then serve it with grated daikon (horse radish), with soy sauce as condiment (little drops at a time). It's great with rice and miso soup, mind you. The rice should be Japonica instead of Indica for full effect - Japanese rice is more sticky and in my opinion sweeter.

I don't know if mackerel is available in the local market. If it is, i don't think that it's going to be cheap

It must have been quite an experience to prepare your own grilled fish. It seems that you are not doing it the easy way which uses the currently available electrical grill that one can find plenty in the supermarket or kitchen ware shop. After all your effort and finally able to taste the fish you grilled, I'm sure it gives certain degree of satisfaction. I don't really eat rice everyday too, sometimes I eat merely vegetables.

Grilled fresh fish, I love that, with soy sauce and venigar and rice..it's heaven for me. I wouldn't mind how much work I will do as long as I will have this grill fish. I also don't mind how unhealthy or fatty it would be, I'll just run for hours in the morning.
