Oh! I may never yet finish my MONALISA!

I do not know what the reason behind this but it just popped in my mind as i was resting trying to make my kids have a nap in Sunday afternoon. I should want to visit here in mylot but then i said to myself, just later, later. Then, i thought why when will i finish my Mona Lisa? This made me sad, see my Mona Lisa is a project of mine when i was still in college and that was 10 years ago, then i discovered it hidden and unfinished still just last year so i made a promise to myself that i will finish it that year and will frame it and hang it in my mother's house as a Christmas gift, so i worked hard on it days and nights. Got tired and forgot about it. Now i am reminded of it again and although i want to finish it this time, i just do not have the will aymore, plus the fact that i work at nights, i sleep at days, i have two huge mountains of laundry to face and i need to tutor my kids for their homeworks. This made me even more sadder, i might not be able to finish it anymore, not this year or in years to come. Am i that bad in time management? Can you suggest something for me, like ways to improve my management style? I wanna be productive, i wanna finish my Mona Lisa but i am just feeling so drained out.

Might be your project is not that important to you anymore, otherwise you would do everything to finish it. BTW Leonardo da Vinci seldom finished anything, even the Mona Lisa is not finished! Still he Always took the painting with him... so it ment a lot to him to have it nearby, no matter where he travelled to, might be it reminded him of something else he should not forget.. perhaps it's the same with your project?

Maybe you are right, before it is very important for me to finish it but as time goes by the urge to finish it has gone but when i look at it again,i feel sad telling myslef how horrible i am and my attitude is always starting something and not finishing a single thing. My Mona Lisa is very important to me, i bring it and keep it safe hoping that it will be finished and will be able to give it to my mother.

Am I right to think that this Monalisa project is a cross stitch project? I think you can finish it if you will give a time for it no matter what or no matter how busy your shedule. I think you an finish it if you want to. I hope you can add a picture of it here? I am also into cross stitching and I am interested to see it. :)

yes you are right i am also into cross-stitching and i was able to finish 2 or 3 major projects before and many small/little ones, but that was years ago, before i got married, my priorities are now my family and they take up so much time and effort. I will try to take a photo of it later.

I will wait for the picture that you will upload.. I am interested because I want to do that also.. Am I right that Monalisa is of different shades of brown only? I am not so sure about that though.. Seldom that I can find cross stitch shop here in our province. Maybe I could find one in the main city. Yeah, wou are right that we have other pririties when we get married. I wish you the best in all the things..

I also have a sort of Mona Lisa... but mine is in a form of 4 dolphins swimming... i started mine more than years ago... but still i can't finish it... when i started cross stitching... i would do it in the school library because of the ac... can't cross stitch when it is hot because of my sweaty palms... i don't work and my ac is broken... but even if it is not... i can't use it the whole day because i am afraid of the electricity bill... Well, i haven't given up hope yet... and you shouldn't too... we will be able to finish our project someday...

yes yes we should finish it but maybe later on this year, or when the kids do not have school days.

When we say we have no time that shows we have no interest in whatever that is. I always said I had no time to stitch but the truth was I never liked stitching. If you had interest or excitement in completing your Mona Lisa or whatever that is you would have made time for it. I started knitting something for my mother and it lay there for years. My mother is no more!

There is something in there that is holding you back. May be you have reached a stage where there is more effort needed. It also could be that you have lost interest in it.It happens to all of us.

Well, Christmas is over. If you really want to have it done, maybe you might want to outsource it in time for this year's Christmas? If you really want to complete it yourself, choose a specific time (e.g. to spend 1 hour each time after you log out of myLot) to diligently continue to paint it. It may be tough and trying, but in the end I am sure you will be able to look back and say the journey is well worth the effort. However, if you have other pressing priorities, sit down and prioritise your work so that current needs are not overshadowed by yesterday's dreams. Otherwise you may be getting nightmares. :)
