For the last year and a half, I have been living with my sister. Which was fine, we get along great, and I am thankful that I had a place to go to. But I am ready. I found the cutest little apartment, 2 floors, big living room, small kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a big bathroom. I have a bit of a small yard too. The thing that gets me, even though my landlord put new carpet and linoleum down, and painted the whole place, and new light fixtures, bathroom vanity and medicine cabinet, the previous tenant was apparently a real pig. The refrigerator was nasty, I scrubbed it with bleach for over 2 hours. The stove was nasty as well, and the shower...shudder. The kitchen cabinets were full of junk, all went in the trash. I don't know about others, but I was raised to clean a place when I was moving out to leave it nice for the next tenant. Some of the things I found, well let's just say I know way more than I ever wanted to about the previous tenant. Thus the bleach. And heavy duty rubber gloves. I don't want to catch any nasties. I just don't understand some people. I like a clean house, and there is no excuse. Hopefully, I will have the place ready so I can move in next weekend.

When I was younger one of my first jobs was cleaning rentals. Living in a College town most of them were rented by students. Students are the worse they really dont care and will trash a place just for fun. One of the houses we cleaned they were using the fridge as the urinal talk about gross. Another house they had a beach party in and they brought the beach into the house and when they moved out they left it there we were bringing buckets of sand out of that place for hours. Now because of that I clean my house very well when I move out I dont want any one to think that I am a pig or that we live dirty. Funny how those things work

Yeah I don't want anyone thinking that of me either. It's appalling what people do to houses. And I have seen some pretty disgusting places. I just don't understand why someone would want to live in filth.

congratulations on your new place! that is so exciting minus the fact that you have to back clean some more from those old tenants. just think, after you get that part out of the way, you will be able to move into your very own spot. good luck to you and your new home.

Thanks! I am happy about finally having my own space. I can do what I want, and decorate the way I want. I am very excited.

Good for you! My sister has a rental and you wouldn't believe how people leave it....the last time I helped her clean it we had to wear masks for the mouse poop....and rubber gloves....had to throw out the stove and refrig..It's a same they don't respect themselves or others enough to be clean.

Yeah, I don't get how people can live like that. I have had to clean every place I moved into, except the house I bought in NC. And I lived in a lot of houses, all of those houses were cleaner when I moved out than when I moved in.

Congratulations to you,This is great that you have found, you your own apartment, I have went to housing, and filled out papers to get my apartment, and they sent me back papers I need to refilled out, one of them were for my niece, to filled out because I pay her rent, and I need the paper by this Friday, and she hasn't filled it out yet and she is going to, mess things up for me getting my apartment, I like a clean place to, I am always washing dishes around here, because all my nice does, my bother does and my sister does,is eat and put dirty dishes, in the sink I am tired of cleaning up around here for them, I want to have my own place, where I can clean up and keep it nice for myself.

My sister and niece do their fair share at least, and I do mine, but it will be nice to have my own place and privacy.

you are right when you move out of a rental you should clean it top to bottom most every where ask for a deposit and if you want any back this should be taken care of the owner exspect some wear and tear on on the unit and it unfair if the person that rented to you did not clean this up before you move in as we all know time is money and i should hope you have taken pictures for the proof and when possable show them and ask if you can take a little of the rent for doing his or her job but as rule of thumb when you leave make sure its as clean or cleaner then when you got it good luck on your new home

I took plenty of pictures, and I will show my landlord. Personally I wouldn't leave a place a mess, it makes it harder for the next person.
