Eating the BRAT diet for my hemorrhoids

I had to have extensive surgery in 1980 for 3rd degree hemorrhoids. I don't ever want to go through that again. I'm eating a modified brat diet. I am eating some apples instead of apple sauce. I also added baked potato because that is also bland. In also eating some melon and grapes. I'm in such terrible pain there. It's a real pain in the azz. I'm going to have to see the doc if these hems don't recede. I'll get some Tucks and Preparation - H tomorrow. I don't feel like getting out today. Have you ever had internal and external hemorrhoids? I'm concerned about if I have to have surgery that something bad will happen like last summer. I kept forgetting to breathe and ended up in ICU. Anyway... I've never had hems to go away. Have you? Please share anything you wish.

Hi PQ, sorry to hear you're in such pain. I have a friend who has hemorrhoids and he says it's quite a problem. But I told him about this site and he said it helped him out a lot. I thought it might help you as well. http://earthclinic.com/CURES/hemorrhoids.html He didn't say exactly what remedies he tried but he did say it helped. Hope you get rid of them soon or that they at least stop causing so much pain.

I hope something helps, thanks. I just would like a day or two of not going to let me heal.

I can understand that! My friend is a truck driver and I guess it's a problem for a lot of them. He said he never had a problem in his previous job but when the place closed down he decided to go for truck driving. After a year or so he said he developed hemorrhoids.

I get them all the time, I know how that feels especially if you have to sit or stand throughout the day. I had surgery to sufficate, adn remove them a few colonoscopys ago, they did say they will most likely come back though.

How do they suffocate them? Is that something new? Mine were cut out and yes they have come back. I have them inside and out. In due for another colonoscopy this year. Maybe they can be dealt with then.

I use a suppository. It not only softens the stool but takes away the discomfort/pain of the hem. Luckily, I don't get them often. I find that with the weight I'm carrying and the amount of time i spend sitting, I need to walk more and eat more fibre and drink more fluids. I'm doing all that pretty well. I think even 10 minutes on the treadmill a couple of times a day is beneficial. Hope something works for you.

I need to get some of that internal prep H stuff. I have to wait til the 1st of the month when my money gets into the bank. I'm glad suppositories work for you. Maybe the prep h suppository would be as good as the other type I had in the tube. It had a tip for internal application. Yes exercise is good. I spent Sunday in bed all day and night so as to prevent pain from being up.

I've had bleeding hemorrhoids before, but nothing bad enough to merit surgery, just the use of suppositories after each dump, and then waiting a while before being able to sit down again. Hope your clear up soon. BTW, what is the BRAT diet?

The BRAT diet is bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. I'm incorporating more into it that I feel won't hurt as much when it comes out the other end. I'm eating more fruit and oatmeal too. If I have oatmeal I leave off the toast.

I know this is painful for but hang in there, it gets better. I had some repair about thirty years ago but can still remember the pain. I had a fistula repair a few year ago and the doctor also removed all the remaining hemoroids, both inside and out. I have not been able to control my bowels since. I hope you get better soon.

Yes and very embarrassing when the poo oozes out and smells to anyone close to you. Makes you want to always stay home and never go anywhere. But I have to work so I can pay for my insulin. Last year I paid $35.00 a month for it now with Obama care it is over $400.00 a month, so I had to go back to work.

It's rough, isn't it?! Omg! I've never had a fistula but I took care of people who did have them suffered greatly. I hope I never get one. The hems are bad enough.

Oh man! I had hemorrhoids really bad when I came home from the hospital after givig birth to my daughter. I used witch hazel soaked round swabs. Very soothing. The BRAT diet is a good one. Never heard of degrees of hemorrhoids. Ugh! Mine were external I guess. Right at the opening. Not a fun time. 'Never had hems to go away'? What does that mean?

Is there a store where you can pay with a check and maybe get the Prep H a day or two early? If you know of one I would try it. It will take the check that long to reach the bank. I would take the chance to get rid of this. Ouch!

Mine are like a bundle of grapes along the inside and on the outside. The bleed terrible and when you go it feels like razor blades coming out. Mine aren't quite as bad right now as they were, but they are very painful. Witch hazel huh? I'll have to look for some.

I have mine more on the full length of my rectum and on the outside. I can only get to the outside ones with pads but nothing seems to help. I dread every time I have to go. I can't even get any prep H yet until I get paid on the 1st. That has an internal tip to instill the ointment internally. It helped last year when I had a flare up. I'll be glad when I can get some more.

no I have had hemoroids and still do when they get itchy I take meds, but they are manageable. My uncle had to have the surgery but he was okay. No problems.

If mine just itched, I could deal with that. My rectum was split open in surgery to get to them. I had stitches up about two inches up the back side of me. I don't ever want to be cut like that again.

Externally? Or internally? I guess I don't understand your remedy.
