Sucks!!! THIS FISH just SUCKS! The janitor fish is one of the most popular fishes in the Philippines. In almost all aquariums, you can find one. This is also called Hypostomos Plescostomus. It sucks all the dirt/moss in the aquarium. However, it begun to be considered pests when a lot of aquarium owners just threw them in some lakes particularly, Marikina Lake. So many that they need to make a task for called " Janitor Fish Eradication Drive" . Why? These fishes were competing with other fishes feeding on algae and organic matter on the bottom. The janitor fishes were believed to be ruining the eco system of the lake. I am thinking, what is their function in the ecosystem if they will be taken away from it? And if it is ruining the ecosystem what do you think is the best thing we can do about them. Thanks for your comments, likes and views. And let us all help our planet earth to be livable again. httpc://tube.7s-b.com/janitor+fish/

@Mavic123456 I loved this post because it shows how much you care about the planet. I just don't have any answers sadly. I know which fish you are talking about. But don't know anything about them besides they have sucky faces.

oh yeah I really love our planet. I can't afford the ticket to Mars. Seriously I love this planet even if the most people living here suck.

@Mavic123456 lol I totally agree with you with your people sucking comment! I would LOVE to be able to go to a different planet but flying scares me. I can't handle planes so not sure how I'd go with a rocket. I know that people have volunteered to fly to Mars but not sure when that will or has taken place. But that gives me a bit of anxiety even thinking about it because the dealio there is that once they go there, they can not come back to Earth. I am sad that searching for another home is even being done. All humans will do is ruin the next planet like we did here on Earth.

I believe I know what a janitor fish is. My dad must have had one in our aquarium when we were still staying in our old house. Personally, I think they are quite fascinating creatures and I don't find them that bad. Yes, they may feed on algae and organic matter in the lakes, however, other fishes also competing for food in the ecosystem. It's the nature order of the ecosystem. The strong eating the weak and so on. I guess they wouldn't really bring much of a harm and it's just one lake that you are talking about. As doctor Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park says, nature will finds its way. Just let nature take its course.

I like that nature will find its way... I like that. though I always say that. Anyway, yes, they are very scary and fascinating fish. I wonder if I hold the skin if it will hurt me.

Years ago I received one as a baby and he was so cute for a short time. He just kept growing and growing until I ended up selling him to a man for his large tank. He planned to only have the one fish in his 50 gallon tank. I can only imagine how big he is today. He really was an attractive fish and very healthy.

if only this is an edible fish.... many would surely be benefiting from growing them in individualized aquarium/sanctuary.

I believe humans need to stop thinking its their call to decide the purpose of other living creatures. If anyone is "messing with the eco-system" its them Those particular fish were designed the way they were for a reason and I'm pretty sure getting rid of them is a huge mistake.

Maybe it can be feed to other animals, like livelihood animals or make it fertilizers. I really don't know but for sure they will have use. They cannot be just waste, I believe there's pusorpose for everything and everyone has it's role to play.
