I bought a 3 month old female peruvian cavy last December. I'm basically new to this. I was given pellets by the store and my cavy seemed to like it. My stock ran out recently though and I had to buy another food product. This one has round small disc like pellets and colored crisps that look like cereals. My cavy eats it and then topples her bowl over when there's little left. Why does she do this?

It's pretty normal for guinea pigs to knock over their bowl. You may need to get a heavier bowl or get one that fastens to the side of the cage so she cannot knock it over. The bowl is being knocked over because she is standing on the side of it to get more yummies out, obviously she is enjoying the food. :)

her bowl is in a ring fastened to her cage. she actually puts her head under the bowl and bumps it with her head to knock it over. i was worried she might not like the food. i will do your suggestion thank you!

I had a cavy years ago and really enjoyed her. She did the same thing until I bought a heavy ceramic bowl that she couldn't even move never mind topple over. Maybe you should buy her a new dish.

Oh good to hear. I was worried she didn't like her new food or that she was going crazy haha.
