A lot of controversy surrounds the T20 cricket. It has been a much hated version as well as a much liked form right from the very beginning of the pattern of the game. The recent controversy over the IPL and MCA, almost making Pune lose out on its scheduled IPL T20 matches. The 50 over version had also had its share of brick bats when it began years ago, but then it remained a popular version for a great number of years. It didnt kill the cricketing talent. So am I correct in saying that the 20 over cricket is a popular format, a format which will only take the game further and not have a negetive impact on the talent.

Many people talk about the talent but i think isd that talent emerges only then people came to play and for t20 u need to hit the ball which need talent off-course as well as some drastic batting and poo bowling hahah. Well to note talent should be there in every cases but in this 60% talent will favor you 110% of batting and it is just opposite for bowlers.

Actually to be able to stop the flow of runs you really need to be a talented bowler. Talent is there if you want to bat and get quick runs. I mean if you cant hit the ball into the gaps or high beyond the boundaries or have the sense to take quick runs then no one can really play T20.

Talent can not be measured in T20.no any long inning to play,no-pressure,and not to stay on crease for long time in it.Original talent is only in playing Tests. Hitting ball any side in any ball makes lot of run and successful chase but it is not a talent. Playing long innings after follow-on in high pressure and win possibly lost match is Talent.

Actually the T20 matches puts more pressure on batsmen to perform as they have such a short period to make runs and pressure on the bowler to limit the runs. All this is not possible without talent. All games and every version of those games needs talent. Yes what kind of talent may differ. But it will wrong to say that all those who play T20 are not talented.

Pressure is in any type of game whether it is T20,ODI or TEST, batsmen or bowlers have have to perform according to role, Dravid is best of the best in Test but he also can perform in ODI he made 50 in 22 at hyderabad few years ago tranforming his role to talent,on the other way Yuvraj plays very well in ODI & T20 but he can't perform like dravid in Tests. Players who can transform their playing role according to game format who can be said talented.

We really cannot say that. T20 came towards the end of the form of Dravid, towards the last phase of his career. It would be really difficult to pass a judgement on his talent on T20. Yes but he may not have turned out to be hitter. But still he could be trusted in keeping one wicket steady while others take a risk.

I think the good thing about the T20 cricket is that it gives a lots of opportunity to earn money for the domestic players who does not play lots of international cricketer.

Yes it does. As the number of clubs grow, more people will get a chance to play international level cricket alongside international players. Which other format is going to give the domestic level this kind of opportunity.

Hi anuraa Talent is must in any format with out talent a player cannot prove himself whether it is T20 or any format . Hard hitters or less talented sportsmen may shine only once or twice in the whole series .

I agree. Talent is needed in any format of any game. People with less of the talent and none many shine for a very short while. But still some people love to bash any new thing that comes to the game. And yes most people who have come to T20 have oodles of talent.

Exactly. It is official money making game. IPL seriously is an entertaining drama. I love watching the game even more now that it finishes in such a short while. Its like going watching a movie and coming back.

Yes, Good point. It is "OFFICIAL" money making game and IPL is world's biggest and longest running drama for example.

T20 cricket is playing a great role in discovering new talent. It does not have a negative effect on the talent.More & more talented players are emerging due to T20 .So T20 cricket should not be criticized.

I agree. It is a way to find new talent and giving it more opportunity. Why do the people who criticise it not understand that it is the way where more people get a chance to play in matches watched by thousands and earn money.

Well, I would say that each format, be it Twenty-20, ODIs (50 overs) and test matches have their own unique identity, their own features to which players have to adjust. So, nothing would take away from cricket. Its just that some players will excel in each format, and some in some specific format, say T-20, or tests. I do not think one format will kill other. What do you have to say?

I agree. Each have its own identity and its own fan following. Some players are fit for one and not the others. They just have to find their calling. Unfortunately, the test matches, which last for five days can get a bit boring. But the fact remains, the people love to watch a game of good cricket, let that be a T20 match, a ODI or a test match.

Well,I cannot say that T-20 is good or bad. Each format will have its own merits and de-merits. Of course T-20 will create some hard hitters. But in my opinion one cannot perform or show his talent in just 20 or 50 overs. For that test cricket is the only thing where we can measure one's talent. That's why Rahul Dravid is considered as the finest batsman in the world class cricket.

Rahul Dravid was not the world's finest batsman in world class cricket just because of test cricket. His ability to hold his side of the wicket while others hit hard, made runs and got out, and giving stability is what made him great. This comes out whichever format you play.

Yes it brings the spotlight to the performers and makes them stars overnight. It is a quick money I agree. But to sustain the income, you have to have talent. So T20 as a game is not bad.
