Oh, Hong Kong Disneyland!

I really would love to work in HK disneyland. I searched for some job openings in HKDL website and I am glad I meet their requirements either in technical and entertainment job areas. I can submit my application requirements right now but my problem is I don't speak Cantonese. The management required applicants to be fluent in cantonese. So, now I am so upset and disappointed. It made me sad. I really would love to be a part of HKDL. I think what I can do now is to enroll in foreign language class which teaches cantonese but it will take a very long time for me to learn and use the language fluently. *sigh* =(

Why not try to lodge your application still? And at the same time, enroll in online foreign language classes and make sure that this is written in your application. Like what others said, HK Disneyland is full of tourists and I am sure that they could use staffs there who are also well-versed in English. We were there years ago and most of the staffs working there, even the guides speak English. They would just revert to Cantonese when the visitors require them to speak in it.

Since Hong Kong is has many tourists every year, besides the local people speak in Cantonese and many can speak in English. So Cantonese, English and even Mandarin languages are necessary for the staff who work in Disneyland in Hong Kong. I wonder whether you can speak in Mandarin. If so, perhaps you still have an advantage.

Just go ahead and try. They still need people that can speak other languages as HKDL is a tourist theme park. You can bring tourist and explain in English. They have guides to lead Chinese speaking tourist and also guides for English speaking group. At the same time go for Cantonese conversational/communication fast track course. I hope you will get it. All the best!

I went to Hong Kong Disneyland twice and I just love it. The employees there who brought us on the boat can really interact very well with the tourists. Since we cannot speak Cantonese, we follow the English speaking excursion. It is really fun! I think most of the staff there can speak bilingual. I do believe they employed other nationalities too. So, go for it and tell them you are brushing up your Cantonese language at the same time. Watch more Cantonese dramas with English subtitles.

Go enroll! It will take sometime but at least you'll still be able to make your dreams come true. Disney makes adult children again. I don't know for some people but that's what Disneyland does for me. Maybe I just love going to theme parks. And if ever you'll be able to learn Cantonese, I know that you can use that not just for Disneyland application. And it's cool to be able to speak other languages as well.
