What is the fastest and best way to get mucus out of your lungs?

I currently suffer from bronchitis. Went to dr yesterday. She rx'd me a few things- an antibiotic, a steroid (prednisone), an albuterol inhaler and rx Robitussin w/codeine. I want to make sure Im doing everything possible to get this darn mucus out of me once and for all. After I have a cough attack, I always have to blow my nose with much mucus from that also. I have to go back to work Monday where my job is talking on the phone and thats what aggravates it (talking). Been suffering with this mucus/coughing WAY WAY TOO long. I have spent over $100 THIS time around on my 'cold' and last time $50ish (this is round 2 of colds this season, back to back). PLEASE, help. Thanks.

last year I was ill with a cold t hat became b ronchitis that turned into bronchial pneumonia and was prescribed a powerful antibiotic that is a five day series and sugar grtee co gh
medicine and that was all.It took only two weeks to start getting real relief and I mn I was coughing up blood and as I have diabetes the doctor could not prescribe prednisone as it shoots up my blood sugar too high.this year I have had only one cold and very mild but I am taking daily one very potent multivitamin
