My Dream Travel

February 21, 2013 10:21pm CST
I used to dread travelling either by air or sea or land. Back in the 80's, my travels were all by land. I started to go places both by sea and air when I married someone who is a native of a province that is separated from mine by a huge body of water. Since then, I began to dream of travelling to any place - with my mom. Yes, that is my dream travel, to go places with my mother who deserves to be treated extra special, even if it has to be in Asia only, particularly Hongkong and Singapore. My mother is in her early seventies now. She has no maintenance drugs for any age-related illness except the vitamins and other supplements I give her. She is still very much capable of travelling. All her life she has been working and was just confined in a single place - her workplace. She didn't learn how to go places all by herself. The first time she travelled by plane, already at age 70, she was excited and my sister heard her say she wanted to travel by plane again. She never went out of the country, not yet. I am now saving for our trip to either Hongkong or Israel. What took me so long to do this? I am just a plain housewife who mainly depends on my husband for almost everything I need. Well, we're partners in business now, so I'm praying really hard I could have the money for my dream travel very soon.

I love dream travel also, sometimes i cant let myself dreaming for a good places, going to beach with my family, or relatives, how peaceful is it. If i had money why not go to places that i dream for, but the budget is always a deal.

You're absolutely right! Budget is always my biggest concern especially that I really want to make my mother comfortable with travelling. And you mentioned family? I have always enjoyed beaches not with other people but with family. I remember when I was a child, going to the beach every summer with my siblings, parents and an aunt had been part of my childhood. And I miss those days..

yes, my family is my priority, I want them happy as long as I can before myself. i miss those days too, the bonding of my family whenever we go together. on that time my parent treat us to go anywhere, but now I promise to them wherever we go I spend my money for their enjoyment again.

Plan for it. Make it a family goal. I went to Hongkong with my husband but I'm dreaming of going back there with my mother and my sick brother. But if ever possible, which I am really praying for, just like you I want to go there with the whole family.

Good luck with saving up for your dream travel. I visited Israel combined with Jordan in my mid twenties. I got a cheap flight to Tel Aviv. I was able to see the coastline, Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Eilat. In Jordan I visited Aqaba and Petra. It was ever so hot in those two countries in August of that year. I visited Hong Kong when I was aged twenty eight years old. I was on my way to Western Australia. Your mother's first flight was so exciting for her. She and you deserve that planned trip so good luck.

Thank you. Yes, my mother deserves a lot of special attention from me now. Israel is really a dream place for me to go to. Now I envy you and those who've gone to that place. I am really praying that I could go there with my mother this year.

You're welcome. And thank you for appreciating my concern and love for my mother. I just want to make her know how grateful I am for all her sacrifices for us, her children. We haven't really travelled a lot together, yet, but I am really praying for the reality of this dream. And yes, it's like hitting two birds with just one stone. I get to give her some pleasures in life and at the same time, I get to satisfy my craving for travelling in some parts of the world.

I used to hate traveling. But I married someone from another country, so I guess traveling now cannot be avoided. I don't hate it anymore, but there are some parts of traveling that I just cant learn to like, like the queues at the airport, losing your luggage, delayed flights, expensive cabs, long hours of traveling. But the best part for me is when we ;eave and when we come home. Nothing beats the excitement of starting a journey, and the excitement of coming home. And oh, I need to add, I also hate the part when you have to unpack and do the laundry.

You're one among some of the favored ones that you get to travel a lot. We have the very same concerns about travelling although I have to admit, I really have very few travels yet.. I think that the annoying circumstances that you mentioned will always be part of our trips especially abroad. One more thing I enjoy is when I get to buy things for my loved ones from the place I visited. Such joy!

That's great! better to book a flight ahead of time to have a goal for budget when you go on travel and plan things up, once you start to travel for sure your going to love it and you won't miss a year not visiting another country :) set some limit to what value you must save, how much then the excess for spending the money within the country your going to, goal first the plain ticket then book then save for expenses then everything will follow. Good luck! Godspeed!

Thank you very much for these much needed travel tips. Honestly, there are a lot of things I need to know about travelling outside of my country. That is why I am just targeting those countries that are next to ours like Hongkong or Malaysia or Singapore. I may become too overwhelmed with the pressures of going too far like the Americas or Europe. Besides, you got my point, I need to set limits and set goals because I have very limited budget at this point. If I and my mother would set out to travel, I am not just after the experience of flying by plane everytime, I would really want to make sure she enjoys the places.
