Every Filipino Politicians are aiming for office to serve the people. Is is true then? We can just see them doing all their might when they are running for a seat. How sad it is to realize that there is no chance really that our country will gonna survive the chaos of corruption. Politicians running in today's election will exert all their resources just to gain the sympathy of their constituents. How can we really know they are doing good? How to know they are doing their jobs well once seated?

there is no sure way to know who is the right person for the job we can only hope that we vote in the right person

To that, i totally agree blackrusty. Though in our minds we seem to perceive a certain candidate as good, so we vote for that person. But we only get to know if he/she indeed is good, is when he/she is already seated as a politician. Sad, but this is true.

Tsk tsk..we never are sure who is the right one until they are there. Sometimes we are just voting the lesser evil! Too sad!

Well from my experience I usually do some research and try to hear their campaign and see their track records in the past if they have been in the position before then I try to seek their opponents what they have to say about them. Sometimes the criticism on their opponents can shed some light about them but of course you'll have to verify if the information you got from them is true and reliable and not just smear campaign against a person.

Good for you rsa101. I do hope that voters will read your message so that they maybe aware of their full obligation as a voting citizen, that is to know who to vote.

Hello tkleyr, This is the way of the politics now, look at what happened to the independent ones last 2010, either they quit or they allow themselves to be absorb by bigger parties. if not, they end up being ridicule by the people and loose the election like what happened to richard gordon and the others. i think we are improving, it's not fast track but its a good start now that things are turning around.

The sad part sometimes is some politics tend to have opposite views with the other opponent or party. But with a good offer, they sometimes join that party after losing from a previous election. If you cant beat them, join them!

We still have a chance to get out of this rut. If you happen to visit neighboring countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, the problem with corruption is worse than ours. I don't mean to offend friends here coming from those countries. I am just relaying here what we have observed in other countries. Philippines better off than them, in terms of corruption. And as our country progresses into becoming an entrepreneurial nation, politics will eventually be subdued into just an amusement or entertainment one for well-off Filipino citizens.

Hello magtibaygom, I am not sure how worse the corruption in other countries but here you obviously can see even to the local enforcement. that's why some of them gets the hype of doing it even with the presence of the public. well, i hope what you think is right, but there should be also concerned with the environment and growing human trafficking troublesome too. i wonder why the foreign media or even UN regards us as one of the most corrupt countries? is it to keep us from rising?

In my opinion we cannot blame them alone.. we should see also the other side of corruption issue.. Sometimes the people also is one of the factors why most of them do corruption after winning..We ( people ) should not tolerate vote buying because once you allow them to buy you, you have no right to complain why they are involved in corruption.

Another are the receipts and the list of medicines to be bought for the patient. The Politicians are not charity themselves. Tendencies are, they will get the money on the funds intended for the projects.

We can never be sure as to the real intentions of a politician unless they have actually taken office and have experienced their governance. But what's really depressing is that we don't seem to learn. We keep on electing politicians due to the immediate benefits we can get from them (money, free food and what not during campaign period). But we never bother to actually think if they can be any good for the whole country in the long run. I don't know if it is greed or extreme need that lead people to overturn their principles.

Most of the voters are now educated yet forgot sometimes to weigh or to know who to vote. They just vote because of the LastNames.
