In India, rice is a staple food. I eat rice twice daily. So there are innumerable ways to cook rice. I can suggest you a recipe called fried rice. You cut vegetables like beans, carrots, capsicum etc. and fry them lightly. Then mix with boiled rice. It tastes really good.

We also use lots of rice in South Africa. I just love rice. White, fragrant rice is off course my favorite. I love rice with curry, stew, rice salad, rice with stir-fry. When we do not use rice, pasta is next in line. when we have rice salad, we add mayonnaise and crisp vegetables.... yummy...

I have read about "glorified rice" which is a sweet rice dish, but I have never made it. I like rice pudding. Just boil your white rice, then stir it into a custard type pudding made with milk, eggs and sugar and add cinnamon and of course vanilla. Some people will put raisins in this dish. I will take white rice and stir fry it, adding garlic, onions, bell pepper, shrimp and stirred up egg. I like to use peanut oil for this.

hi m ariaperalta they sure serve plenty of rice here as I guess its cheap but for diabetes its not really all that great. Its a simple carbohydrate that turns into sugar too quickly for us diabetics thus shooting up our blood sugar. Brown rice is much better for us and even basmati rice is better. I can o nly eat abut o ne third of a cupful of white rice.

I like brown rice better, but I will use white rice because it is faster. I enjoy pairing beans and rice, and always with garlic and onion. I like rice much better than my husband does.

Hi Maria, we just wash the rice and keep the rice with some water. Thereafter we keep the pan on the oven, after some time rice is cooked and then we screen the water and get the boiled rice. That's all. It is very easy. Have a very nice day.

For plain rice we do not use anything. In Polao rice, we use tiny rice, ghee(butter), spices (garlic, onion, chilly, salt, potato bokhara etc).

When I was still in the Philippines, we also have rice in almost every meal. The most common rice that we have is the fluffy, white one. We cook our rice that way often because we have really flavorful viands or dishes that go with it. We do cook arroz ala valenciana, rice cooked with tomato sauce, some seafood and veggies. It is very good but I can't cook it properly yet. I alwys mess up with the flavors and I burn the rice.

I like rice cooked with peas, the succulence of the peas compliments the dryness of the rice. I also like Kedgeree, which we traditionally eat for breakfast here. It is made with rice, eggs, smoked haddock, ginger, onion, garlic, chillies, bay leaves, coriander. It has a smoky and spicy flavour all the best, urban

Well at the moment I do not eat it at all as I am fasting but I would not normally eat it more than once or twice a week. Our main staple here is potatoes but we also eat pasta and of course we have a variety of bread products. Rice is perhaps less versatile than other staples, although I love rissotto and I have just remembered rice pudding, with nutmeg or marmalade all the best, urban

In my home country, Malaysia (a South East Asian country), rice is the staple food as well. Most people eat rice at least once or twice a day. A very famous dish we have here in Malaysia is called "nasi lemak', literally translated as "fat rice" but is actually coconut milk rice. To make the rice (which uses white rice by the way), the add pandan leaves which is sweet, tasty and full of aroma. They also add sambal and ikan bilis (anchovies) which makes the dish really mouth-watering. I'm not sure if you can get pandan leaves in Mexico, but this is one possible way to cook white rice. Here is a website link on how to prepare nasi lemak: http://rasamalaysia.com/recipe-nasi-lemak-coconut-milk-rice/ Happy trying!

The "nasi lemak" of Malaysia is really good and you should try it. I was able to taste it when I visited Malaysia in 2010. In my country (Philippines), we love to eat rice 2 to 3x a day. We also eat fried rice (sautee in garlic/carrots and green green peas) in the morning together with friend eggs, ham, fried fish, longanisa, salted egg or hotdog/sausage.

It is good to know that you and almost everyone in Mexico also eat rice with almost every meal, rice is a common and affordable staple for many people around the world especially for those who live in Asia, like China, Thailand, Korea...etc if you like to cook more white rice, then you need to stop putting tomatoes sauce in your rice at the time of cooking, and try to buy long or short grain white rice instead of brown rice. You can also put some 'basal' or 'pandang' leaves with your rice to enhance the smell, only can give you one secret recipe at a time in the art of rice cooking. The rest have to wait ....

The next one will be making sure you eat your white rice with some meat like chicken or pork and veggies preferably marinate with spicy spices and plenty of gravy, you can have some hot steamy soup go along with it, so that you will not overload with just carbohydrate, but also with other vital nutrients. Bean is not compulsory while eating rice, it is up to you to decide.

ok, Ill put shredded chicken pieces in it, with a few veggies. What type of gravy?

Almost anything, like mozerealla, american, parmesean, cheddar, goat cheese with herbs, personally I would stay away from pungent cheeses but if you like them go for them, there are just so many to pick from. You could use smoked cheese, gouda, swiss, colby, montery jack. Great now I want rice.

I think I'm hungry already. Yeah, I agree with cttolledo. Aside from steamed rice which is the usual way of cooking it, we also have different ways of cooking rice. Actually, there are some who cook rice the way you do it. I think we adopted it from you, the one with tomato sauce. I tasted it already and it's delicious. Have a great Monday morning!

We hve quite a lot of rice in the UK due to the culinary influences from our Asian immigrants. My Children prefer their rice in Paella, Chicken and Chorizo Paella or in a simple Risotto. You should follow the Oscars on Twitter tonight - It will be in the trends and you can discuss it as it happens with millions. I do that when i watch the football, it is fun to chat with other fans. Also an easy way to pick up a few followers.

A number of ways you can use the Chorizo. Cut up about 200g of chorizo, and fry it gently in a little oil in a hot pan. Heat it until the some of the colour bleeds into the oil. You now have your the flavour and colour in the oil. Now fry some cooked rice with the chorizo. Cook it the same way as cooking Egg fried rice

We actually don't eat a lot of rice in our home and I think that the reason that we don't eat a lot of rice is because of the fact that it is a carb and we would rather fill up our bellies with vegetables and things like that. However, there are some times that I crave some fried rice and I will make that at home. It is pretty yummy and you can put pretty much whatever you like in it. I like a lot of vegetables, a little bit of bacon and some fried egg in my fried rice as well. Then I will use a little bit of soy sauce to taste.

I love rice but really cannot have it these days. But rice can be made with almost anything. And with anything. Its like Pasta. But I have a way for those people that cannot have rice to eat rice. What you do is get yourself a head of cauliflower, while its raw, grate it on a cheese grater. Then you steam it and add onions and mushrooms and whatever spice you want. And believe me, it really tastes like rice. So, remember, rice will go with anything.

I cook rice occasionally (trying to cut back on carbs...),and I use brown rice, and I steam it in the rice cooker. In a pan I put some chopped garlic with a bit of oil to brown it,add some chopped, peppers, celery, mushrooms, slat, pepper, paprika, and cook till done, then mix in the rice.An other idea is to boil the rice, but in the water I add some chicken soup base. When is done on any rice you could grate some cheese too.

It's the same here in the Philippines too. Rice is one major food of the Filipinos. My adorable hubby just can't do a day with out it. He said he'll get weak if he can't eat rice but of course we all know that it's not true at all. hahahha I love eating rice myself but I am on a fast right now. I abstain from eating rice and drinking coffee in the hope that I get a better and healthy body.

Same here, some mexican families eat it 3 times a day. We eat it in my home like once per day.
