I Realized Something about Heaven Today ...

Heaven is a ... well, not "a lie"; but no one has ever actually 'been there' (not the place that is popularly described as such). Oh, we all are there, but 'the way it's described' is just the writers' best "translation" of it (from their imaginations' perceptions to the closest metaphors they can think of). A friend rehd the kids' version of the Burpo-family's "Heaven Is Real" to the children in church today---the re-telling of young Colton Burpo's semi-death experience in which he 'was tranported to Heaven, met and/or knew-of all his passed-on relatives & -the angels & -G*d & -Jesus & -the Holy Spirit, and was called back from Heaven when his father (& others too, I imagine) prayed for him' (OR that's what his father led him into saying after the miracle recovery ) But Christians need to believe-in and talk-about Heaven as the Bible presents it, for the same reason that basketball-games have a scoreboard---not because it holds any power over them, but rather to show them the goal they are shooting-for. Think about it; what description of Heaven changes anything about your behavior now?

I think more preaching should be done on what heaven is going to be like but just the information we have been given. This is certainly better than hearing about hell fire. Since we get ready when we are going on a trip I believe we need to do that if we are wanting to go to heaven. I believe we need to learn how to live in heaven before we get there or we probably would be very unhappy about leaving some of our pet habits back on earth. Actually, God would know that and just leave us here. He certainly doesn't need any unhappy people in heaven. That is how sin got started in the first place.

Wrong. Heaven is not a place, it's the way life will be when everybody becomes righteous.

I '+'ed this response-comment, but not because I agree For I disagree; BUT what you say is true---ONLY BECAUSE YOU SAY SO! I told one of my Bible-study leaders this. He's always saying "I know I'm a`gonna sin again-&-again as long as I'm a human-bein`," and I finally told him 'NO YOU ARE NOT! ... well, you are; but ONLY BECAUSE YOU SAY SO!' And if the Bible sez 'you're a`gonna sin-&-sin,' that proves that it's NOT G*d's Word! But Heaven DOES happen (today & the REST of eternity in all possible directions), and it happens for EVERYBODY! Those who do not accept it as 'Heaven' then must accept it as something else ('Hell' if they NEVER open their vision to see that they are in 'Heaven'; 'Purgatory' if they eventually WILL open their vision; or 'Armegeddon' or 'Earth' or 'whatever-else' if they choose to cling to this muddy reality )

That is discouraging news because that isn't going to happen ever. In fact, I remember the Bible saying there would only be a remnant in the last days.

Not A G-dddamn Thing! I'm acting The Same way I always do. See I have been told Only Christians go to heaven. I can never be a Christian so I'm out. I get to live my life Just as I want. I am free from the pressure of Trying to be good so I get to go to heaven. I get to choose when to be nice and when not to be nice. and I have been to my heaven here on earth. I didn't have to die or appease a G-d to get there. I Do thank My G-d for letting me be this happy but that is about it!

Sarah you said you "thank my G-d for letting me be this happy..." I am curious. If you don't believe in the God of heaven then who is this G-d you are talking about? What things do you do now to make earth heaven for you right now?

My G-d is not Jesus. So since I have been told that Jesus is the Only g-d in heaven, My G-d must have another heaven somewhere. I'm Jewish so I guess my G-d would be Jesus' dad. What am I doing to have heaven here on earth. I'm in love with a man who truly loves me back. i love my job. I get to treat myself to little things here and there. That's heaven to me.

Right-on, Sarah! I live like that too; but I'm not sufficient to have requited love or people's kind of "job," so I have to get what I can from people who believe all this WRONG stuff (who would judge my "treating myself" as 'robbery' or 'harassment' or something). And I think you're misreading it if you somehow conclude that "Jesus is the only g*d." Jesus & Our Father are One, the same way that Obama & Washington (and all the Presidents in between) are One. And your view--your heaven--proves something I try to convince people: Heaven & Hell are not 'different places.' They are the same place. Well, your Spirit only goes one place when you die; and you can either want to go there or not want to go there.

I have found many people talking about heaven, yet i haven't found any person who has ever been there physically.Frankly speaking there is no such place like heaven or hell that people think of. Actually heaven or hell is just the state of our mind.
