Foods that can lower cholesterol include oats and high fiber foods, fish and omega-3 fatty acids, walnuts, almonds and other nuts, olive oil and other plant oils. Fiber helps lower cholesterol because it can "absorb"or "gather" fat and excrete it along in the excretory system. Omega-3 fatty acids are shown also in studies that they can lower cholesterol, plant oils and nuts are also low in cholesterol so they are advised to be used in cooking. And also exercise and good knowledge in nutrition and food choices is advised. Use cooking methods which are healthy like steaming, boiling, grilling and avoid frying and fried foods. Trim also fat of meat foods and avoid processed meats. Also avoid eating the skin of meats like chicken skin and others.

One of the main ways to reduce or lower the cholesterol level of the body is to simply avoid eating foods with high amount of cholesterol. Regular exercise is also one. Not necessarily going to the gym but a regular walk or jogging can be good. Be very conscious on the diet. Anything you put in your stomach will manifest soon.

I'm sorry to hear it, but there are natural foods are easily obtained to lower cholesterol is garlic. Based on the research of garlic can lower cholesterol and thin the blood. How to use garlic to lower cholesterol, cut of six cloves of fresh garlic, soak for six hours in cold water, and then drink. Do this regularly. I pray your friend get well soon.

What's his serum cholesterol level. Walking is a good therapy to lower cholesterol level. But as he is on medication, he will have to continue it through out life as the previous high level would return back after withhdrawal of the medication.
