hey guys, my dad snores very loudly. I cannot understand how my mother has been sleeping with him since years. Once i heard her saying that she gets to sleep very late at night because he snores very loudly while sleeping. This is not the only case, whenever i have got to sleep besides him, i too do not get proper sleep. he snores like a lion, he he he. I have asked him the reason of the snoring several times but every time he has laughed off after listening this saying that he is also helpless regarding this issue. I got to know that people who are high on cholesterol do snore loudly. Even reports suggest that snoring is not good for health and hence a healthy lifestyle is one of the solution to this. What r your thoughts about this guys? Do u also snore while sleeping? What could be the reason of snoring loudly? Please do share your thoughts!

Oh really then it must have been tough for u all to get a good sleep at night. I know it must have been hard to tolerate any sort of noise especially at night. It would have been better had the doors been shut so that the noise would have been reduced.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well yes u must be laughing whenever u must be thinking of those days when your brother was a loud snorer. i know u all must have had many sleepless nights due to his snoring. i think u should ask him to refer a good doctor who can possibly check this thing so that he would snore less than before. What say?

Me too, my father snores loud but sometimes their are differences b'coz every time he is in good day he doesn't snore a lot but when he will have a bad day or too much tired then that will be the time that he snores so loud that i can't sleep well. Their are lots of potential causes in snoring like, obesity, anatomical variations, and several illnesses that affects the airway, and also several problems like high blood pressure and heart disease. Snoring is not really a good health, the lifestyle is one of the variance.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well i can understand your dad's situation very well and i know the day he would have worked very hard would have been the day when he had snored loudly. But lets not conclude that this could be the only reason. as u said that there r several potential causes, i think it is better to get it checked otherwise it could be dangerous for us. What say?

Yes i have already said him about the sleep apnea and he was shocked to hear about its after affects and hence i have asked him to get a check up done at the earliest so that he can get over his snoring issues and so that we all can sleep happily at night also. Ha ha ha.

My husband snores a lot too. And the first few nights after the wedding, I would literally roll him over so that he sleeps with his chest on the bed. I barely had a sound sleep! The sound is caused by the vibration of uvula which moves wen air passes. And since there is a constriction, you would also notice that sometimes, the person that snores lose a second or two of normal breathing.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well i can understand your situation very well and i know u must have had terrible condition initially while sleeping. Well i have no idea about uvula and yes u r right as u said he also says that he loses a second or two of normal breathing when he snores which sounds dangerous. What say?

Yup! It could be dangerous alright. It can actually cause some heart problems. Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. do check this link: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/sleepapnea/ (not a referral link)

Yeah i have seen many mylotters introducing me to this disorder and believe me i have been terrified with the thoughts of losing normal breathe at times due to snoring. I would certainly like to go through the link that u have given to me.

It is really very disturbing. My wife has this bad habit and I have been tolerating it for so many years.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right, it is very much disturbing especially if u have a sleeping partner who snores like anything. as u said about your wife's snoring, i know u do not like it and u have been tolerating it since years. i think as a responsible husband take her to a good doc and refer to him about this issue. What say?

I think the reason why they snore loudly is because they are a very happy person. happiness can give us enjoyment in life however if you/me before sleep with lots of problem I think we cant sleep comfortably right? for me I snore because of I can sleep comfortably with the place and the bed, I experience that I go sleep with my friend on his house and on the next day I ask him if I make a snore last night he said no. I think so because i feel not comfortable to sleep on other house. so I still feel snoring If I feel at home :D

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well yes that might be one of the reasons also. i have seen that he stays cheerful and carefree all the time and he also said that those who would be having lots of stress and tensions they hardly get any sleep. But still i feel that snoring is not good for health and all the snorers should not take this thing very lightly. What say?

There is something called sleep apnea which you can research for yourself. This causes loud snoring and also stops you from breathing to the point that you're endangering your life. I am very noise sensitive and could never sleep by anyone who snores. I can hear the guy in the apartment above me snoring and I have to go sleep on the couch. I don't know how anybody can get any sleep with that much noise.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well to be very honest, i have never heard this word before and i think it is very dangerous when one is going to an extent of stopping one's breathe. I can understand your situation very well and i know u must be getting sleep with difficulty. Even i feel the same how people snore so loudly. What say?

He should get tested for Sleep apnea it is very dangerous and could make him stop breathing all together. My brother-in-law has it and he sleeps with a machine next to him wearing a mask. I know it sounds crazy but that is the only way he sleeps without snoring. If your dad smokes too that is probably another factor to his snoring. My hubby you to snore like crazy that I would have to sleep in another room. After he stopped smoking he stopped snoring. I would stress the issue with him to get checked out. What they will do is send him to a sleep center where he will stay overnight and they monitor his sleeping. Then they will be able to tell if he has the sleep apnea or not.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well yes i got to know about sleep apnea now only. It really sounds scary and i think i have to convince him to get checked regarding this. Well he never smokes so there is no chance that he is snoring due to smoking. I think it might be due to apnea. What say?

Ah..My ex-roommate snores very very loudly which drove me crazy. The question is she is skinny, and also has a quite healthy lifestyle. I cannot understand how she snores so loudly while sleeping especially during deep sleeping. What could be the reason of snoring? Snoring is definitely not good for health.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well i can understand your situation and i know u must have had many sleepless nights thanks to your ex-roommate's snoring. I know even i am puzzled how she is snoring in spite of having all perfect things. may be she should get it checked at the earliest otherwise it could be riskier for her health. What say?

i can't sleep well with a person who snores...My mom snores also and i always go to sleep before she goes to sleep. Luckily i don't stay with her very often then it is ok, if not i can't imagine how i am because i will lose my weight very fast without sleeping well.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well yes i can understand your situation very well and especially it is difficult when someone is snoring very loudly as it deprives u of sleep. I think it is better for her to get checked about this thing and u can sleep early as well to escape her snoring noises. What say?

Hi friend, really it is hard to stay with such kind of persons, we need a peaceful sleep in the night times. Snoring is really a great problem to lot of persons, as you mentioned you asked about this to your father and he simply smiled to it, i think he don't take any steps to come out from this problem. If he take proper steps and try his maximum, he will give up his habit

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Yes we need to get proper sleep at night otherwise our body would be adversely affected. i know i have asked him a lot of times regarding this but every time he has laughed it off. i think it is high time that he consults a doc so that we can control his snoring properly. It cannot be controlled by one's own will. What say?

My Husband does that too, they said that if you snore while you are asleep means you are probably really tired that day and that you are sleeping really tight... Too bad for me and those who has a hardworking husband - yays! Don't know what to tell you about Snoring is not good for health... maybe i'll do some research too.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well yes even i had heard about this thing that when you work hard then u go into deep sleep due to which u snore loudly. Well i cannot say this is the sole reason for snoring but it could be one of the reason for that. as u said that it is dangerous for health, i think u should get him checked properly at least once. What say?
