Sunday 10th March is Mother's Day in my home country. My 3 year old daughter gave me a bunch of yellow daffodil flowers and my 5 year old son gave me a lovely Mother's Day handmade card. I can see his writing inside it. I know he finds writing ever so difficult. Spelling and reading are his bigger strengths. I am giving my mom a vase and a bunch of colorful tulips plus a shop bought Mother's Day card. It will be my mom's 80th birthday later this month. Therefore it is a very exciting month for my mom this year. The weather is cool to chilly plus rather rainy. I so wanted to take my mom out for tea. She is not keen to do so if the weather is so miserable. Do you have Mother's Day in your home country? Which flowers do you like? Have you ever given your mom a really special day?

I think we knew even then that we weren't going to have a chance to do anything THAT special for her again.

I am delighted to hear that you had a really special party for your mom's 80th birthday. My mother is not one to like a big party for her birthday even when it is a special mile stone birthday.

First of all, I hope you will have a great day. It is so nice that your children give you lovely gifts. Actually in my country there is no such a day. However, as time goes by, our society has been affected by the western countries. But we follow the Mother's Day which is in the second/third (I am always confused to it) Sunday in May. This is an American Mother's Day, I guess. So here in May children will try to do something to make mothers happy.

I would like to wish every mother a good day.My kids love to buy me a small gift and a card.I like to see them as well and if there is a present it is a bonus. To have children is a wonderful thing all that love and all you have to do is look after them.My children blow me away with their love and kindness ,giving me wonderful grandchildren and plenty to do.Everyday is special when you have children it is just nice to get a present as well.My kids always say you gave us everything mum and it is our turn to spoil you.little do they know how lucky I am.It does not do the little ones to show their appreciation of what you do for them.Giving appreciation is a lesson that should be learn't in life.It teaches them not to take kindness and love for granted.Who else in life would give your everything and not expect anything back,Only your Mum ,love your mum and never take her for granted as their are plenty of us who have never known their mum,or lost them along the way.

Hello there Suzzy 3. It is excellent that you have wished every mother a good day today. It is lovely your kids give you a small gift and a card. Yes, appreciation is important. My mom always says she doesn't want very much however I know she deserves each such a lot. It is sad that some people have lost their mom or have never known their mom. In this discussion I have seen that and in my wider experience too. It is lovely when a person still has her grandma alive. Yes always love your mom and never take her for granted.

Hello, Nice to hear that you have so nice kids which give you so sweet presents. I get a bit confused, because I thought that we have mother day in one day in all over world. But, then I make a little search on Wikipedia and saw that this day is in different dates in all countries. So we celebrate it on my 2nd week Sunday. I usually buy flowers, but when I was a kid i too make a little cards for my mother. And my favorite flowers is pink roses.

Hello Dream ozn. Hi there. I have visited Singapore your home country three times. I hope that you are enjoying studying in London. Yes, it fascinates me that Mother's Day is on different days in other countries like the USA for example. I found out in China they are having the American day now but didn't used to in the distant past. Canada day I know is July 1st. American Independence Day is my birthday July 4th.

Mothers Day here in the US is in May. I was never able to have kids so I could never appreciate this day. I do have god children who sometimes will say something to me. But back when my Mom was alive and we were growing up we did usually take time to do something special, and would give her a Card and even fix breakfast for her. People need to realize and respect and appreciate their mothers, and they could not be here without them.

I am sorry that you haven't ever been able to have a baby. I like the sound of your god children. I enjoyed hearing about what you did when your mom was alive. Yes, my mother is very special to me. My mom really wanted a second baby and she had be born when she was 39 years old.

Mum seems to have everything at once, her 70th is on Monday, and Mother's Day the day before, so I went out to get two cards for her, to take away with her as she goes to stay with her sister for a long weekend. I got her some Marks and Spencers Vouchers so at least she can buy what she wants when she wants. I do notice some shops take advantage of the fact that it's Mother's Day by upping the price of flowers! Commercialism always seems to take over any special event.

Hello Wolfie. I am so surprised to hear you mum seems to have everything at once with her 70th birthday the day after Mother's Day. Well done for getting her some Marks and Spencer vouchers. Then after her long weekend with her sister she will be able to buy exactly what she wants. Yes, the flowers are mega expensive around Mother's Day and Valentines Day. Unlike Christmas presents they have to be bought just before the special day. I would like to wish your mum a happy 70th birthday tomorrow.

My kids haven't remembered and neither did my bloke before he went out. I'll poke the kids a bit later and demand a sit down with a cup of tea. I haven't sent anything to my Mum, but I'll phone later on and my Grandma too. Congratulations to your Mum for her forthcoming birthday, and I hope the weather improves so that you can both enjoy an afternoon out.

Happy Mother's Day to you! I hope you are enjoying your day. Yes, we have Mother's day the second Sunday of May and this year its on the 12th. My favorite flower for me would be pink roses. I think they are the most beautiful flowers that God created. We have given our mom a special day many a times in the past but now that we live so far away not so much lately. I would love to one Mother's day surprise her and stay with her and my dad till after Father's day. Maybe next year I can do that. This year I will be in New Mexico with my daughers and their families for mother's day. Take care and enjoy!

Thanks for wishing me a Happy Mother's Day. It is lovely you have your Mother's day on May 12th. I also like pink roses and they are common in my home country. It is great you have given your mom many special days. I notice now you live far away from your mom. Surprising her one day is therefore an excellent idea. I hope that you have a wonderful Mother's Day in New Mexico with your daughters.

Mother's Day is usually celebrated every second Sunday of May. I usually give her other gifts like things that she can actually use or add pictures of my kids in picture frames to add to her collection. I seldom give her flowers.

Hello Jenny. I can see your mother's Day is in the second Sunday in May. My mother can rarely tell me the things she wants. I am planning to get her kitchen accessories for her birthday. Those will be very useful for her.

In the US it's not Mother's Day just yet but it is coming up soon. Normally mom will get all kind of things, my husband normally buys me flowers and puts our kids name on it since they can't so anything yet. I love getting carnations because I hate roses. As long as it get a hug and kiss that day I'm a happy mama.

We have mothers' day in my country, but at our place, it is the first Sunday of May. I'm not a mother yet, so I'm just celebrating my mom, I'm not celebrated :). She isn't huge fan of flowers, so I don't get her flowers, but chocolates or books or something else. I personally love flowers. I like roses, pansies and tulips a lot!

It is wonderful that Mother's Day is the second Sunday of May in your home country. You can have a lovely time celebrating with your mom on that day. I notice your mom isn't a big fan of flowers. Roses grow in my home country and I think tulips come from the Netherlands. In early May I like to take a walk in the bluebell woods. I take photos of that charming scene.

When my mother was alive and aging , she was a constant source of annoyance and often raise my blood to boiling temperature by the statements she makes or the behaviour that can be so very annoying, My mom passed away when she was approaching 80..and had the symptoms of senility. But come mother' s day, i will reminisce on my early childhood when my mom was still a mature strong woman in her 40s, and i remember ever so fondly the times we had spent together as a family with all the siblings coming together as a unit to celebrate her BD, the joy in her face that was contagious to us all. it usually gives my heart a yearning or longing to see my mothers face and to tell her how dearly i loved her, so that it can make her happy.Because looking back to the time when she was with me, very seldom did i express that sentiment for i was too young to consider it and was just taking my mom for granted. Regretted the many times i shouted at her in impatience and then remembering the hurt look in her face which didn't bother me back then but haunts me right now, my heart aches in a wrenching way just thinking about it and so much yearn to undo this regret. We all love our moms, no doubt about that, but at the same time, many of us take her for granted and even lose patience with her, yet how often do we tell our mothers or remind them just how dear they are to us and how much we love them and appreciate their sacrifices or hardship they may have endured for us. For those fortunate enough to have their moms still with them,by all means , wish them Happy Mother's day BUT at the same time , it will make many a precious lady immensely joyful just by virtue of them being told by their children that " Mom we love you". Trust me , it will mean a lot to them, more precious than gold or jewels when moms are told by their children how much they are loved and appreciated. Make their day, give your mother a kiss and say" Mom ,i love you, happy mother's day".

Yes we have it's on May 10th, father's day is in June. It's Always on the same "sunday" of the month in May or June. I don't feel the need really to celebrate it. If my children are not showing they love me daily why on this day? I also don't see the need of celebrating it, seems as if nearly everything needs a special day. perhaps I am Lucky since my children are so close with me and I get many hugs a day?

It is wonderful that you have Mother's Day on May 10th. We also have Father's Day in June and I am not sure of the date it will be. My children show they love me daily too. My daughter is often hugging me and sits on my lap to share a story. I live in a bungalow because my son is in a wheelchair. I needed to move here to get him a downstairs bedroom and a wet room. Around here are other bungalows with pensioners living in them. There are many cars because the adult children have come to see their mom. You see they live considerable distances away. That is expect for my next door neighbor. Her son comes to see her often. I am delighted I live a ten minute drive away from my mom.
