Religion

A new pope was chosen. It was anticipated by many practicing Catholics and others. It was a top news story and the coverage of the new pope will continue. Religion is an interesting subject. The doctrines and attitudes of those with certain denominations make one wonder if they practice what they preach. The roles or lack thereof involving women can be seen as controversial. I appreciate religion as a motivating force for helping people become better people. But, it should not be twisted by extremists professing falsehoods and promoting oppression.

In this site there is a site where mylotters write and post about religion. As it happens, there are all sorts of discussions. Many times I don`t answer as the people who post about religion and politics many times don`t want to read about other ideas. The pope, an argentinies, is the first pope from South America. I am specially glad. I live in Argentina`s neighbor country, Chile, and I hope that this pope will know more about the problems in my continent.

I have heard about the humbleness of this pope. It is quite telling and extraordinary. I do believe he will understand the problems facing your continent as well as the rest of the world as he prays and commits his life to touching the lives of others.
