Ever since I have a computer, I very seldom call my friends on the phone. Instead, I send them E-Mails. My husband, who does not use a computer, feels that it is much better to talk to friends on the phone. I agree with him, but since I keep busy, I find that E-mails are a better way to keep in touch. I know it is not the same as talking on the phone. The relationship is closer when you talk on the phone. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

I agree that talking on the phone is far different from emails. But talking on the phone takes a longer time to spend than sending emails. What matters most is the connection- as long as there is a communication I think the relationship will stay the same. Maybe calling and talking them on the phone once in a while is fine.

I agree. Nothing like hearing a voice or a laughter. You can discuss more on the phone. It's just more time consuming. I do call if someone is depressed or is noit feeling well and things like that.

Yes I know what you mean I hardly call my long distant friends or family I email them as well, however your husband Is correct in saying that we should communicate more on the phone it just seems more warmer.

I don't even call people who live in my city very often.

Sending e-mails will lower the cost. While talking over the phone, we often go on talking and then we are surprised to look at the telephone bill. But an e-mail is totally different. You can write a very long letter on Microsoft word document and paste that in the e-mail to your friend. That saves so much money. Moreover, you can write leisurely. But on the phone, one cannot talk leisurely.

Well, I want text from cell phone not phone call or email. He he he It is fine with me. It is just that if phone calls, well, sometimes I am so busy and if email, I do not want to type so long. I choose text because I can summarize it or I am busy, I can text that person later

Definitely emails can't replace the phone conversations. But its also true that you can't call them every time. So I will say get in touch with them through emails and after a while call them.
