There are three Titanic movies...that I know of. The first one was made in 1953 with Barbara Stanwick and Robert Waggnor..both very young! The second one was in the 70's I believe with Cathrine Zeta Jones as the main female character and then of course, 1997 I think with Cameron's Titanic with Leo and Winslet. I have seen the last one all through, I have only seen the other two parts and pieces. They just didn't keep my attention to watch much. But my question is this...does any one know if the storylines are the same? Meaning...as with Camerons's version, the lower class stowaway guy picks up the high class, rich girl and they hit is off and run off together etc. Is that the same storyline in the other two?

The first film about the Titanic came out in 1912- just 29 days after the ship sank, with a survivor- a silent film actress- as the star. It exaggerated some facts. There have been many films about the disaster , or at least that are set on the disaster. Not all of them have a same story lines.

I hadn't heard about that one.I think those prior to the finding of the ship and all the research since, were probably more exaggerated and the character stories were all untrue and all, but even in Cameron's 1997 one, the characters were not real but it was an enjoyable story line. And it captured the spirit of the ship and all that happened. It was probably the most factual of any.

No they are not... It might surprise you to know that the Titanic is actually a true story - The best version being one called A NIGHT TO REMEMBER The Cameron version is just a soppy love story - I have watched 45 minutes of it and to be honest, it is CRAP Cameron's last good film was T2

I know it is a true story. I have been "watching" for things about it since I was in junior high school and my grandmother told me she lost a friend on the ship. I know Camerons was basically a love story held on the ship, and all about the ship and what happened was true. But was the story of the characters on the other 2 the same love story type or was there some kind of murder in the making, and was spoiled by the ship crash? or....what? All the character have a story for their being on board the ship... And I did like Cameron's Titanic...was was rather moving in both areas...the (fictonal) story of the characters on board, as well as the true story about the ship.

I think that the 1996 TV version is worth your attention. Two couples, two stories. One is about upper class married woman who falls in love with a handsome gentleman on the board and is ready to leave her husband as soon as they reach New York. The other story is about two young poor emigrants who meet on their way to a new life. He's a thief, she's a good christian girl.It looks as if they have nothing in common, but this journey will change their lives dramatically.
