The lady was really nice and she was like I'll do your husband a favor I'll go ahead and hire you. I had to go get my drug test done and then for the first time ever, I had to get a TB test done. I never had that done. And I hate needles, but it didn't hurt so bad. I just have to go back on Wednesday to get my results and if I pass all that which I know I should pass it. Then I start in 3 weeks. I don't like the waiting period, but hey I'm glad to have a job. And now also my hubby is going to make me practice practice practice on how to bag doughnuts. So I'll be in practice training before I start. I'm excited. The lady seems nice and that's so far. I was told to watch out for some of the people that work there though by her because she said some of them are mean. But don't let them get to you she said, and basically she was like if they give you trouble talk to management about it. But anyways, my hubby said she does all the hiring and then he was like you don't want to see her any more after that cause she does all the firing and handles all the write ups. So this will be interesting for me. I hope I do well and hopefully this practicing will help me. Can't wait to start.

It must make you(and your husband) feel really good to know that the people at his job think so highly of him that they will give you a job just on his work alone. So this woman is the all round person there. Hope you don't see her again.lol Glad you got the job and hope it is something you will like.

I'm hoping I don't see her either. Except around when she's out in the factory looking at work. I never want to go to her office.

Hi trisha. Congratulations for this new job of yours.. So is this your first job? And what exactly is this job about?? And about the lady, well HR people are supposed to be friendly and caring. And your husband is right. I am still a student and yet to go to work. I wonder how it would feel.. But I am fine with being a student for now. It is quite easy being a student actually. Have a nice day !! SuperShames

No not my first job. But I got fired from my last job and this one was available. What I'll be doing is working in a factory bagging up doughnuts. And that is about it. Which seems easy and fun, just got to be fast.

I am very happy for you! Congrats on the job. =) I had to get a TB test done plenty of times because I have worked in daycare's. It's not a fun test but it's not the worst either, I am not a needle fan either. Lol. I cry more for an IV than I did for labor! Different topic, sorry got off track. I wish you the best of luck with your new job! And as for the mean people who work there, bite your tongue then come here and vent all you want about them! Lol.

Aw, yeah, my hubby calls me a big crybaby when it comes to needles. Which is true I'll admit to it. But I can get through it just as long as they don't tell me they are going to poke me. I don't know how many nurses I go to and they like to count before sticking me or tell me okay here comes the stick. I'm like really, just don't tell me and I'll be fine.

Well, congratulations on getting hired. I'm like you, I do not like needles. I always have to turn my head away when the nurse inserts the needle in my arm for collecting blood, tb tests, etc..but once the needle is in, I am good to go and I can watch my blood being drawn. Right having a job is great, even though you know you have to wait three weeks to actually start working. Positive is, you can enjoy the next three weeks without having to worry about looking for a job, relax and take it easy. Have fun and enjoy your new job. Life is great :)

That's true now I can just relax and not worry about trying to find ways to make money. So I get like a mini vacation I'll call it. I have to tell the nurses don't let me know you're going to stick me because I'd just rather be surprised. I've gone to so many nurses who like to count or say okay I'm going to stick you. I think it is so much better when they don't tell me. But like you after that, then I'm okay and I can watch while the blood is being drawn from me. I kind of have to keep getting used to needles, cause every 3 months I have to get blood drawn to test my thyroid levels. But it gets better, and just as long as they keep surprising me I'll be fine.

Yeah it does I hate when its close to the time for me to go back to see them cause that means I have to get my blood drawn. They have to monitor it though cause they are trying to get it leveled and I have an overactive thyroid. So they want to keep a close watch to make sure it doesn't get crazy.

That must really stink to have to have your thyroid levels checked all the time.

Congratulations for having a new job! I hope this one proves to be so much better than the previous ones you've had. (I followed your previous discussions). Anyway, 3 weeks for me is a long wait but hey at least you have something to look forward to.

Yeah I'd rather start sooner, but she's got to do back ground check and all that. My husband loves working there, just a few people he can't stand and that's at any job. But I hope this one works out for me too. I'd really like to stay and work at a job instead of getting fired and stuff. So hopefully it works out and I'll be staying at home and working on my speed.

Wow, that sucks how unemployment just keeps on plunging. It kind of discourages me on wanting to go to school, but I know I should and hopefully things will get better. I guess I haven't seen much of it here where I'm at in Texas, but my friend who also lives in Texas says that it is so hard for her to find a job where she is and she went to school for medical assistant. She feels like she may have to leave and go to a bigger city in Texas just to get a job for what she went for. But she was like it is so hard its so sad.

It is hard here in Nevada as well. The news reports that the unemployment rate is going down, however what they do not report is that many people have stopped getting unemployment and therefore have given up on looking. I have two Master's Degrees and cannot get work. I am told that I am over qualified.

That's great! I remember one job where I had to get the TB test done. I was so angry that they took the cost of the test out of my paycheck.

hi Trisha thats just wonderful and congratulations on getting hired. well the three weeks will go fast as you will be practicing bagging donuts. sounds like a fun job and hope you will do really well at it. Now days in so many places a job of any kind is a big deal as so many are out of work..I will send prayers that you do very well on this new job and enjoy it too.

Thank you for the prayers. It is so true that finding jobs are so hard now. And I'm like I'm not going to be picky. Now is not really the time to be picky especially how scarce jobs are now. I just hope I do really well, so I can stay there for a good while while I go to school.

I don't think I would congratulate you yet being that you are waiting for your test results and I am sure this will make you post again when you are official in 3 weeks time. In short, I cannot wait to hear from you again 3 weeks later. I think you need to take your husband's advice against seeking the hiring lady for your problems with certain colleagues there. Some people don't really mean what they say and I think this lady is one of them. Be mentally prepared to deal with them and the office politics with is everywhere. I am sure newcomers will always get additional welcomes of the twilight kind somehow and there are ways to deal with it. Going to her will not be wise because people will just treat you like a snitch in the future which is the last thing you would want here before your position is being confirmed. In the meantime, enjoy the free time while it last.
