After a very long week of having this work overload, i had a chance this afternoon to go out all by myself and shop few things for myself. Two days ago, my husband and I planned to go to a spa to treat ourselves with a whole body massage but the kids insisted on coming with us so the ending was...we were not able to what we wanted to do. So today, I went off to work early and decided to go to the mall. I felt good though i was a bit tired...I feel extremely relived!

For me, shopping is a stress reliever. Specially when you arrive home and get to fit them again for the 2nd time, complete with the matching bags and shoes. It really takes away my stress.

That makes as a total woman. I cannot find any woman out there who would say that they do not love shopping. All of us do it is just maybe not every one has the luxury of having big money to spend for it.

Well, there is a condition for it to be a stress reliever; you have to have money for them.

A few years back, I was dealing with some issues. I just couldn't stay at home. I had to be in another place so I won't start crying. The mall being just a fe minutes away from the house was the place where I went. I was going through stores than found this ditresses jeans worth $50! It fit me well, and bought it. I usually just buy jeans that const less than $10.

That is a good alternative of shopping instead of spending too much on it, staying at home can be economical and relaxing..

Good for you Cheri! I am also planning to have a full body massage. These days, I have been experiencing pains at the back of my shoulders.Shopping can also relive stress but I feel guilty after spending my hard earned money for new clothes or shoes.I would rather eat my favorite hamburger.

I would be adding stress to myself if I go out, especially shopping alone.

we do really have different ways of addressing stress, that I observed from different responses here. What works so well with others may not work to some.

Yes, shopping is a good method to release the stress. I found that it is very helpful for me. When I have a bad mood, I can be cheered up after going out for shopping. Eating is not a very good method for me to release the stress because I will have no appetite at that time.

Same here. I do not have the appetite as well. I just go around the mall and do some window shopping and if I ever have something that I like buying then I buy it.

Shopping is one of the things that I will do so that I am able to relieve some stress in my life. Now me, I don't typically make any kind of purchases when I do some retail therapy, I just enjoy the time away from my family and I window shop. However, since I don't have as much temptation for buying things when I just go for a drive, I have taken more to using a nice drive as a form of therapy for me. It never ceases to amaze me how much that relaxes me.

I used to shop whenever I was stressed, but I would tend to overspend. Now if I am stressed out I start working on my crafts. I am learning how to sew and how to make jewelry. This has really helped me relax and it has also made me want to start my own online business. I need to build up my online account a little bit more so I can buy some stamps so I can mail my items.

That's the problem when we do shopping! I also experienced that so I do not usually make a habit of that when I am stressed. I also enjoy doing those crafts to help my mind stay away from the stress of work or home.

I do enjoy shopping when I have money. I am able to get things I would like as well as being able to let loose a bit.

I am never been relieve after shopping. Since I do not have enough money to buy everything I want. But I like to go to traditional market where we can buy cheap and unique goods.. going to Mall only makes me stressed because of a lot of desire but lack of money. But good thing you can reduce the stress by shopping.. have a nice day.

I do also go on cheap ones. We call it "tyangge" here where they offer goods in affordable prices. I do not have much money like you think. Sometimes I go to the mall not to shop, I just eat and do some window shopping. Thanks for your comment. Have a nice day too.

Ooohhh, I also love shopping especially when I have enough funds to spare. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't share my love for shopping and even won't go with me even though he loves me. He won't even carry my shopping bags but he will drop me off and pick me up when I am done at the mall. At least he pays for extras!

That would be a good consolation. My husband is so patient enough giving me company but I prefer to be alone because I do not like his taste choosing how would I dress...hahahaha.

shopping indeed is a way of stressing out.. for me shopping may be tiring but my mood becomes happy whenever i got the chance to shop.. whether i shop for my family's need or for myself it is the time where i can enjoy and somehow have fun.. specially these days that i am always at home taking care of my child.. in fact these week if i have an extra money i will go shopping and plan to buy a new clothes..

That's so good to hear, being able to relax. Once in a while, we should all take a break and make time for ourselves, otherwise we might get burned out from handling all our responsibilities at home and at work.

I believe in that, we should take time out and give ourselves a break. Home work really stresses mothers a lot.

Oh, that's good to hear. I hope you and your husband can have some time for yourselves without kids for a while in the future. It's good to relieve stress by going to spa. I also sometimes relieve my stress through shopping what I need. It's also good to go out alone so that you can take your time choosing what you want. If kids are around, you'll be in a hurry.

I also feel relaxed whenever I go shopping for myself. It brings me more joy when I arrive home and look at the beautiful things that I have bought for myself. I sometimes try it on and think of the event that I am going to wear it.

There is a child in my life that believes that if i am going to go anywhere that they have to go too. Getting away and having a little bit of time is always a good thing.
