Politics: All about my parents

I noticed that some candidates for this coming may elections are really using the names of their deceased or retired parents in order to draw attention. Like what that Aquino guy is doing, attaching Ninoy, Cory and Noynoy Aquino's photo is his campaign materials. The same goes for ramon magsaysay who's using his father's image. I really find this very annoying and some dependent unto the achievements of their relatives or parents.

Hello Kenshin, there's a few politicians that doesn't use their parents just to get attention, my favorite their RIchard Gordon doesn't use his parents but they blast his volunteerism with Red Cross accusing him of using it in his campaign. too bad though, am not gonna vote for these people but am still studying their capacity to explain and debate

I would appreciate if you would somehow give some names there with your opinions with regards to them as I also look into their capacities and perhaps ability to lead Filipinos.

In each candidates, has their own ways to lift themselves just to make themselves looks good to the people, and they keep using their retired parents, cos it has an effect, others believe that "If his parents role the Philippines in nice way, Then he/she would be like his/her parents too"

They know for a fact that they will never get to the position they want without associating themselves with those that our elders have already known. That is for sure. The truth is that if they don't we won't know and even consider them for a seat because they themselves are not known to us... so they are trying to bank on their parent's achievements and say they can be the same and they can also do the same for this country.

Well, what I say. it's a traditional campaign tactic and some people go for it. Our politics is mainly constructed by association and patronage. Lucky for those who share the famous last name, not sure for the voter.

My Parents, I dont know how they were still married until now because they never voted for the same politician. They always debate about it.Let's say during the Marcos regime,My dad is Pro-Marcos and My mom is Pro Cory.During the Estrada presidency, they were also the opposite sides. I wonder if they were debating about politics right now. Its been a month since the last time I visited them.

Hello Captain, there are couples that differs in a lot of things but they would never separate due to simple differences in beliefs and their lives. Sad to know this last election that my siblings favors different candidates other than mine but we are family and shouldn't be destroyed simply because we have different views in life.

Its election period and candidates employ their own tactics in order to win. When it comes to Philippine politics, name recall and familiarity is very important that's why candidates who are descendants of whoever political figure will use that to their advantage. Some don't even have a platform to begin with, thinking that they can get away and win just by simply using the family name. Sad but true.
