It was the best orientation I ever had. It was really fun, but what orientation isn't fun. Well, this one was the best I ever had. People were nice, and made us feel welcome. So my official first day is on Monday and its a 12 hour shift. I'm like wow, okay, first week and I get a 12 hour shift. But hey I said to my husband that I would try it out and even if I don't like it I'm going to keep at it. I'm done with quitting jobs just cause I don't like it. So the only reason its a 12 hour shift is because right now they only have 2 shifts and since they are hiring more people they are going to split it into 3 shifts. Until they get 3 shifts which my husband told me won't be for 3 weeks I hope sooner than that. I will be working 12 hours shifts, get off early on Fridays and I have the weekends off again. My husband is all scared they are going to scare me away with all those hours. But I'm willing to work it and I'll be waiting on those big paychecks I'll be getting. Cause I'll be getting paid $10.85 an hour. So sure I'll work all those hours. But unfortunately I won't be able to spend so much time on here, because my hours are long and I'll be tired. I'll be here on the weekends though.

Congratulations, seems like you're off to a nice start. 12 hours is indeed long. But hey, I would rather spend those hours working and earning some money than 12 hours of doing nothing.

I will definitely agree with you on that one. I'd rather be working for 12 hours then not doing anything or even being at home wondering how we're going to come up with some money. But I'll have to also look at it as it won't be forever and so that is something I will look forward to.

I am glad orientation went well for you! 12 hour days are hard and tiring but I am sure you will get through it just fine. And whenever you get too tired just remember it is not forever. =) I wish you the best of luck with your first official day tomorrow!

Yeah that is what I'll have to keep on thinking about that it isn't forever and thank God. Cause I don't know how much longer I would deal with that. But thanks, I'm otherwise really excited to start tomorrow and get to working and see how my new job will be.

That's great but yes 12 hour shift is a long day. I used to do it too when shifts needed to be covered and i was always coming home and going straight to bed afterwards to do it all over again. I hope this new job works out for you. Good luck

I hope it works out for me as well and I gather that I will be heading home once off and just clock out from being so tired. But I'm glad its only temporary. So we'll see what happens.

Congratz on the new job! Those are long hours but it's temporary. 12 hour shifts on a regular basis is hard to keep up. Money is nice but you never have time to spend it! Good luck and have fun on Monday.

That is what would suck about having 12 hours a day I'd never have the time to spend it because even on my off days, I know that I would just be way too tired to even get out and enjoy the money. But being that it is just temporary, I will hopefully one day enjoy it.

Wow. Nice. $10.85 hour and its 12 hour. That would be good I guess. At least, you'll have an instant money on the offline job though 12 hour shift is a little bit difficult but, its fine. As long as you can do it then, its fine.

Congratulations to you. I am glad that you had a great time during orientation and much more happy for you that the pay is quite a good one. I must admit that the hours are going to be challenging and I hope that you are prepared to be exhausted with the working conditions at work. I see that you are very happy but do not place any high expectations that you forget that there will be office politics. There will be people and matters that you may want to be wary and careful, so do be prepared here.

good luck on the new job trisha27. hope everything pans out right for you. i do think that working 12 hour shifts is fun especially if tis a new job because it maximizes your exposure to the kind of tasks that you will be doing as well as to the kind of people you will be interacting with. longer work hours makes adapting to teh new work and the new environment so much easier. the rate taht you will be getting ain't that bad either... more work hours will result in bigger paychecks!!! i certainly won't argue with that!!! anyway, you will be missed here in mylot but a good thing is that you will have a week long of expereinces to write about when you get online here again during the weekends. again congratualtions on the new job and good luck!!!

That is a good wage. Hope you enjoy what you are doing and have good co-workers. A job can be pretty hard if you don't have good people to work beside. See you on the week-end letting us know how your week went. Take care.
