As christian who believes in God really treat holy week as very sacred and time of repentance. However as time pass by it seems that holy week is just an exciting time to go on a long vacation with friends. Shall I say that the true essence and value of holy week is already replaced by pleasure?Shameful to us but it's evident nowadays. Some of us can't even go to church since they were busy preparing for the beach outing. Is it your essence of holy week?

Avoiding going to places of worship just because of going for outings is bad.I am a Hindu and a firm believer.Despite this,I seldom visit temples. The reason,I can't concentrate there.Instead,I prefer to chant names of God mentally all the time in my house and my workplace. It is surprising even for me why I can't concentrate at temples.Perhaps because my mind is too disturbed and observing rituals is something I don't like.In my opinion,if I am connected with God mentally, that's enough.Chanting God's name with a concentrated mind has become my habit and I can't live without it.While reciting His name mentally I call Him as if I am calling my mother.Do you think it's enough?

Holy Week is generally a catholic event, growing up my mom would often "drag" me to processions during Good Friday and we would walk and i would end up tired. I honestly don't know what was that all about as of course i was a kid. Now that i am an adult and i have kids of my own and have my own beliefs, i honestly don't follow traditions set by the Catholic society..or the society in general. Mostly we would just stay at home and have some family time. I do pray and have my faith in God but i don't follow things the traditions.

Well, I have to admit and to be honest that holy week nowadays is no longer holy compared before. When I was a kid, we usually celebrate it by doing great virtues...the radio plays drama commemorating the passion of Christ. All people visits holy places such as churches and even climbing to Calvary hills or mountains. We pray and pray...but this time of social media, especially in the Internet, people are no longer doing what we usually did when we were kids. I myself stay in front of the computer and since it is a vacation from work, I can stay up late at night and having chat wherein I even meet people doing nasty things in the chat rooms!

I grew up spending the holy week at home and at the church. My dad is really a devout catholic so he makes sure that we are able to go to church during those days, aside from praying at home. We never considered taking a vacation instead.

My holy week is gonna be spent quietly with loads of good reflections since I am a catholic. For me, I am dedicating this week to God entirely and when easter is finally here I will celebrate the resurrection of the lord with friends and family.
