Yesterday I walked to the supermarket. I always look at a vegetable plot that is on the way. It belongs to a park keeper that lives in a vwer small cottage in the park. I love to see his plot and admire him as most of the people like him would try to do as little as possible. Yesterday he was taking out his tomato plants ready to throw them away. It`s Autumn here and he will soon prepare the earth for his Winter crop. I said hi, told him how watching his plot when I went by many times made my day and explained that green tomatoes could be used in cooking. He gave me first a lot of green tomatoes and then picked up 3 big basil plants from his parth and said: For a diner of pasta with pesto. I was delighted and so grateful! A word of praise turned out into a gift I got from this awesome man. Have you such a story about you and a neighbor or some newly met person? Share!

No such luck, but one summer a co-worker had a surplus of tomatoes from his garden and I actually managed to provoke an allergic reaction to them by eating so many!

No such luck! I already knew I had a minor problem to tomatoes, but this was the first time I actually got hives to ANYTHING! Later I quit eating tomatoes and peppers for over a year because they were making my feet hurt - probably should do it again, but its HARD!

Well, this is a first. One I never knew that overeating something could result in an allergy. I just wish that I could become allergic to dairy My personal downfall. Secondly, I have never heard of anyone being allergic to tomatoes either

I just got a recipe for it from the Joy of cooking. I usually make green fried tomatoes (mysdianait taught me how here). But I`m trying something new as I have guests on Friday and I`ll make pasta as main dish and an antipasto before.

What a kind gesture. Your kindness resulted in his kindness and both of you feel good. This is how it should be in the world. I love green tomato churney and would love to taste some of yours. I am sure that you will give him a jar of it when it is made. Yes, some of my neighbours bring over a slice of their baked cakes etc and I do the same. It is good to live closely with them. Just the ones next door who is still a pain but the others are nice. ~When the new neighbours moved in I made them a Coconut cake and also made a meal for another neighbour who recently had a baby.

No, I was already allergic to tomatoes, it just was the first time I ever got HIVES from anything... actually, the last time to! Mostly tomatoes make my joints hurt.

Actually, it was the other way around. I feel giving more than receiving. And I just feel great being able to give something to people never mind if they were complete strangers. But as long as I can help them and make them happy, that would surely make my day.

I wasn`t thinking of that. But if I look it from another perspective, this man is not used at all to have a lady talk to him in an equal basis. In my country there are many social classes problems still and I bet not a single person who lives at my neighborhood would talk with a worker from the park. I told him in so many words that I admired his vegetable plot and that I looked at it every time I passed by.
