i'm a quitter!

no smoking - no smoking sign - quit smoking
March 28, 2013 8:55am CST
So I’m trying to quit smoking. I usually smoke 20 cigarettes a day, and since Monday I have smoked 6 a day. Which I think is a pretty good achievement. I did think about going cold turkey and stopping completely.. and I know it works for a lot of people, but to be honest I really think that trying to give up 6 is far easier than trying to give up 20! I haven’t done the patches or gum, because I think they filling the remaining 14 cigarettes with other forms of nicotine just keeps the addiction going. I am however, very proud of myself thus far. What do you think of this??

Hi chicks! I would like to congratulate you for this achievement. On this aspect, I could really say that a quitter is a winner. Continue with what you had started and I'm sure you can totally remove that bad habit in no time. Have a wonderful day!

Congratulations! So many people face the issue of quitting smoking, but a lot either don't have the nerve of the confidence to do so. The fact that you approached it, and are slowly working towards it, is great. There are many ways to quit; you don't have to quit cold turkey. By cutting down, you're finding a way to quit that works for you. As long as you have a positive outlook and mindset, I know you will be successful! Keep it up :)

Thank you this means a lot. I am quite a negative person but nature so it's good that I can stay somewhat positive about it :)

Go girl! That's brilliant. If cutting down is more likely to work for you than stopping outright then I think that's the way to go. Every ciggy less is an achievement, I reckon.

Well every ciggie less is adding a few hours onto my life haha!

I sure think that you are on the right track. You really can;t fore yourself to give up smoking over night. Just take your time until it reaches a point wherein you could actually end the day without lighting one stick.

Well that's a nice response thank you. I do find that when you tell someone you are quitting they seem almost to bully you into keeping going, and look disappointed when you don't so the fact that you are saying I need to take my time makes me feel great :)

I agree with you about the patches. I hadn't understood why a patch with nicotene because it is just another form of it. It helps you not to smoke it and ruin your lungs but its still nicotene. You're doing a good job. I believe quitting 6 will be easier. The gradual drop will help you, it seems to be so far right? Keep it up and be a quitter.

Thank you.. I am still now on my quest to quit, but I have cut down so much, and I am also eating better and doing more exercise, not to loose weight as I personally don't need to, but to make myself FEEL healthier so I will have more of a hatred to something to unhealthy :)

Actually the last one is the hardest to quit. Because that fact that you are quitting forever starts to sink in. I have witnessed many ex-smokers pick up the smoking habit when they are stressed.

Oh, I'm really proud of you, too! Not necessarily because of the "smoke is bad for you etc." thing (I don't smoke btw.), but because you set an aim for yourself, and you have the willpower to commit to it, and you're doing really well!

It's not even that it is bad for me that is my problem, it's the fact that it is insanely expensive! Yes I obviously want my health in the future but right now I am healthy and it's the money that's getting me down.. the amount I was spending was just wrong!

Hi- Although you have done a nice job by coming down to 6 from 20 but you would be better off if try to give up in one go. I have tried it before and ended up smoking more than ever before. However I managed to quit almost 11 years before while I quit suddenly, in a day for good. Cheers.

Smoking is such an addiction that makes an individual gradually programmed for sticking to smoking. He or she cant raise any protest or prevention agaist this bad habit and so smoking gradually kills an addict. But you are that very person who has won over this life killing habit. You are great warrior. You have been able to beat this culprit like smoking. Be happy.

aw thank you so much.. first time I've ever been called a warrior haha!
