Last night`s leftovers meant being lazy today.

AS you know, I had my niece and her family last night for diner. We had a great time together and the baby was sweet, all full of laughter. Yesterday I made chicken on tomato sauce to be served with pasta. I didn`t want to have too little, so I overdid it. It was wonderful as I will be able to be lazy the rest of the weekend. Fortunatly I love this meal so I can have it 2 days on a row. And tomorrow I`m invited for lunch tto my daughter`s house for egg`s seeking. Are leftover your salvation sometimes? Most of the times I freeze them to be eaten later on, but this once I will not do a thing at home until Monday

THere`s an age where you never have leftovers around (and sometimes food)

That is very usual at that age. Keep lots of unexpensive carbs around. Tortillas and an unexpensive filling would stop the 14 year old hunger. Is it expensive to keep a pot full of frijoles refritos for him to munch?

Leftovers are absolutely a salvation in my house :) My daughters are both students and all of us are on different schedules. When I prepare dinners, I always make more than I need for the one meal. I package up the leftovers into microwaveable containers and those become lunches or extra dinners. There is always something in the fridge that way so anyone can grab a quick hot meal when they arrive home. It's a lot nicer than buying commercial frozen dinners! Also, on days when I'm running behind schedule, I don't have to worry about not having anything for dinner... I can put together enough food with leftovers.

Homemade food is cheaper, yummier and a lot more healthy than bought dinners. Even though I live alone, I often have guests at home. Many times people come and stay to a pot luck diner. Leftovers help then.

I had a wonderful time yesterday. And I`m looking forward to the Easter eggs hunt although my daughter told me there were no eggs for grandma. I will have to beg my 9 year old grandson for a chocolate egg

I am definitely a person that likes to have access to leftovers, but I am typically not the kind of person that will eat the leftovers for dinner the following day. If there are not enough that they would feed more than one of us, then I will eat them for lunch. However, on the times when I have a pretty good amount of leftovers, then I will save them and freeze them to use on a day when we have something to do or I just really don't feel like cooking.

I know that the way you handle leftovers is different if you live alone or have to cook for a whole family. I never used leftovers at home for diner when we were 4 people. Like you do, I ate them when the rest of the fsmily was at school or at work. I had an american friend who worked very far from home and he took a lunch of leftovers most of the time.

Glad to hear that you had leftovers and now you don't have to worry about cooking. And yes I do feel leftovers do save us a lot of the time. Last night my husband did the dishes since when he is upset he feels he has to be working at something. So I really don't have to worry about doing the dishes. I'm glad about that.

These leftovers are specially helpful as I came back tired after searching for eggs with my grandkids, eating them (shouldn`t have) and then being at a big family lunch.

I think when we have company we either make too much or not enough to feed everyone. Our family tends to over cook, but hey leftovers are good too. Glad you had a good visit with family.

I even had to buy new pots. I almost never use now the 2 big ones, but I have several small favorites

Since my older daughter moved out we have had to scale back on how much we make so we don't waste food.

I think that is what most mothers do so that they could do other things aside from being a slave in the kitchen. But that rarely happens in my household. My kids just gulp the last bit every time! lol

I didn`t have many leftovers when the children were at home. Even rice had to be done every meal. Now I make a cup of rice and have some leftover

Oh, I love leftover food. That way I don't have to cook or buy food for the next day. I love this kind of careless lazy vibe of days of leftovers, too. It's so boheme or something.

I`m back from my easter lunch with the grandkids and it is wonderful to have nice healthy food already made for dinber. I had a nap as soon as I returned. Children are very energetic. Now I`m heating a bit of leftover food as I have too many chocolate eggs in my tummy. I`ll continue with leftovers tomorrow.

Hi, It is very nice that today you can take rest as you have leftover food. My wife prepares some nice recipe from that leftover. Some days before she had prepared cutlets from leftover vegetables. They tasted very delicious.

Normally my leftovers are small. Still I use them. But today I had lots of food. I made food for 6 people and we only were three. But I wanted to be able to offer second helpings. I had forgotten that the antipasto had lots of yummy things to eat.

I never waste any food. And many times the second time is better than the original dish.
