Try to join a C.A firm with good connection and enroll as an articled clerk or accounts assistant for one year.Within one year,if you have a bent for it you will learn the ropes of the trade while you faithfully carry out the job there.Get hold of a twelfth standard accountancy book, you will have a general idea of accounts and the rest you can learn by practice.

Being accountant takes years of schooling and qualifications to pass and to get certified properly in the correct manner. I guess there are some companies that would be willing to train you, if you were the right candidate. I agree it is very good pay for being an accountant, but bearing in mind they have probably trained for some considerable time and most certainly didn't jump straight into that job without training or advanced qualifications!

What is your course in college? If you are in accountancy then its much easier for you to learn more about accounting. If you are not an accountant major, then you need to double your effort, study more (I think there are short courses offering accountancy). Work in areas where you can learn more about being a good accountant. Work and be friends with people you are good in accountancy.

In my country, you don`t become an accountant by reading some books, but there are courses to be taken, exams and a degree given by a Board. You can learn accounting and that will help you, but not as you wish. Then there`s a lower paid job in which you are an accountant`s helper. Probably, if you have the contacts and qualify, you can get that kind of job.

I think the smart thing to do would be to check your local high school for some night classes they may offer an accountant class 101...its worth a try especially if thats what you have decided to do.... Good luck to you...there may also be a class at a local community college you can attend...

Hi, Accountancy is a course taken during college with the course Bachelor of Science in Accounting. It is not easy, more like engineering with lots of mathematics in the major courses, from basic algebra, trigonometry, statistics, calculus and their advanced subjects. During the preparatory two years course, one takes the usual subjects like Math, history, social and physical sciences, humanities and languages. The last two years deals with accounting works, making ledgers, calculations on percentage, and making records straight, comparing them with other records like purchase receipts and procurement vouchers. After the four year course, a government examination is taken to qualify as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Only few ever managed to get this far, one reason for the high salary most companies offer to successful applicants.
