Have you a train station or a bus stop nearby?

I like around 15 to 20 minutes walk from my nearest train station. It is a walk mostly along a footpath. There is a bus stop five minutes walk away. Train is a favorite type of transport. In the day I can look out of the window. In the night time I can sleep in a bunk. I feel happy and relaxed traveling by train. How about you? Which is your favorite type of transport and why?

Where I live, I'd have to catch a bus to Folsom, then catch the light rail. That would take me downtown where the Amtrak station is. I've never taken any of those, as driving is more convenient. One of these days I may drive to Folsom and then take the light rail downtown. We shall see.

Our bus is like a taxi service, it stops opposite my house and takes me right into town, you cross over and the main railway line station is there! The buses are very frequent, every 15 minutes. We are so lucky where we live. I have the choice of two stations, both go direct into central London. With one taking only 17 minutes non stop to London! They too are very frequent. I haven't taken a train for years now, I mostly use my car, but my mum has a freedom pass and her and her neighbour use it frequently to get to the shops. I am hoping in the Summer months I will pluck up courage to get on a train again to help my anxiety issues.

The train station is down town and I live in a residential area used to be suburbs farther away. As for the bus stop, We have one at the end of our street a few steps away, but then I am talking about city bus stops. I would either like to walk or get a ride in a car. If we had a train like the Orient express or Amtrak then I would like to be on one, else, will take a car ride.

Hi Maxine, train journey is always pleasant to me. You better walk 20 minutes to avoid boring bus trip.

I live far enough from the local train station to not have the displeasure of hearing every train passing by, but close enough to be in comfortable walking distance. I totally agree regarding train being my favorite form of transportation. I dislike car rides because they are stressful and I am prone to car sickness, while on a train all I feel like doing is drifting off to sleep.

I have a choice of 2 routes to work: a bus ride to a train station, or a single bus ride which takes me directly to my workplace. Both have the same travel time approximately hence I used to prefer the direct bus thinking it is less of a hassle since I do not need to switch. Well turns out that at peak hours there is a good chance of being caught in traffic hence it's now the train for me. Otherwise I generally take buses more than trains since my home is not within walking diatance of a station but is well-served by buses.

No, I don't. The closest bus stop is about 4 miles away. It takes about an hour to get there (I know as I've walked the distance before, but it wasn't to get to the bus stop ). And I don't even know where the train station is around here (even though I've lived in the area the majority of my life), although there are tracks not too far from my place. My favorite type of transportation has got to be by car. I hate relying on others to get somewhere (well, with the exception of my husband, of course). I'd much rather just drive myself. Happy mylotting!

Another interesting topic! My apartment is just one minute walk away from the nearest railway station. It is in Tokyo, but not in the middle. I feel very convenient about this walking distance, as I need to depend on rail mainly for daily movement.
