Very disappointed

I spent some time looking at my participation here and was disappointed to see a mere 5% of my responses getting the Best Response tag. My very first Best response tag was on the topic 'How to eat a Mango" I had a good laugh reading through it now, after 4 years. How about you? Are you happy or disappointed. Or do you think you are over rated? Do share.

Hi allknowing.. I wouldn't even know how to figure that percentage out. I wish they would still send notifications on BR as I like to thank people for them, and the notifications helped. Is there somewhere here that tells you how many you have or do you have to count them yourself? If I have to count them, forget it, lol! I remember you saying in the beginning you didn't answer much or were very shy on answering...maybe that is why you have 5%. I know I'm happy with what I have received, but don't know the stats on it. I just go around having fun when I'm here. Been taking a break lately though but popped in today.

Oh my gosh, I got too many pages to count and my computer is way too slow...still have dial-up and it'll take me way too long. From what I can see, I guess I'm doing ok...guess I'll never know unless I get a faster computer, lol!

I only said that I did not comment on responses. But that was only at the beginning. I responded vigorously alright! I was actually having fun in arriving at this percentage and also to read my response that got the first BR tag. It is easy to arrive at the percentage. You know the number of responses which you will find on your profile. You can also find your best responses there. To get the total Best Responses, just count the total pages and multiply that by ten and then divide that figure by the number of responses. Then multiply that by 100. Simple.

Considering there are so many discussions here we can respond back and forth in, and knowing there are many here who never give best responses and respond back in their discussions, it is hard to know how people choose which respond here. I do know like others have shared your responses are helpful so don't get to hard on yourself like this. I am sure this is the truth for a lot of us in here.

That is true. Because many times it helps keep us aware of where people really stand. Just hate when it keep people from coming back and discussing what is going n in fear of having people knock them down all the time.

I am not taking this seriously. It is just that we have so much of data here and so why not find out what's what. I know that many dont exercise this option but whatever the outcome it is worth knowing where we stand.

I know what you mean. It cannot be called a discussion sometimes -just a response and it ends there.

It doesn't matter to me, whether I get the best response tag or not. As long as I have share my ideas and opinions on the topic. Then it all that matters. Currently I have 18 discussions in which I was rated as best response tag. As far as I know, I have done my part sharing my ideas to others and so I am already happy and contented on it.

Hi friend, don't worry, you will get a lot of BR in the near soon and my wishes for it. I don't give a lot of importance to BR, i just post my thoughts and opinions as reply and i will be happy if my reply is selected as BR by the topic creator. I don't remember about my First BR, but i am getting BR frequently based on the quality of my replies as well as selection of the topic creator

To know what your first B/R was you need to go to the first page of your best responses. It is interesting. I was enjoying this whole exercise.

Wow thanks for alerting me, I am new to mylot and didn't even know there is such a thing as Best Response:) I doubt my inputs are good enough to qualify for even 1 BR tag, so 34 in 4 years sound really good to me. I will be happy if I have 4 in 4 years:)

You have a long way to go. It is indeed difficult for any one to select a response as sometimes there are many that deserve that choice. I find it difficult and so I do not choose.

Mine is just over ten percent. I am neither happy or sad about it. I just write what I feel like and am matter of fact about it.As for being overrated I don't think I am neither over or underrated. Some responses of mine seemed to have appealed to some people . I give the same devotion to most of my answers but some are best suited to the person and this is why I have got the best response.

Since myLot is providing us with so many statistics I just felt like going there. Since we do not get alerts when someone marks our responses as best once in a while I do go to my page and check. It is a feel good factor surely.

I have been here about five years and have never checked. It is nice but I would not be disappointed. This reminds me that I am so behind in deciding who should get a best response in my pots. My day today is not too busy so I will take some time to do so. Best rsponses shold be allocated by us and rated too. Now you have made my conscience go into overdrive. By the way, I am about to have a mango after my oatmeal for breakfast. I will eat it outside on the patio

When myLot has provided us with so much data why not use it and have some fun! I too am guilty of not marking best response tags but with the where-is-as-is situation we can still arrive at some result. That is what I did and felt may be many have not done their job just as I have not!. It was fun all the same.

I am just happy that some people would think that I have provided them some helpful insights. But really should not expect that much from it coz the most important thing is I was able to impart something which I think could be substantial to them.

Hey Friend don't be disappointed because your discussion and comments are all brilliants ! I learnt so many from your post and comments done. You need not to worry about that best responses because you always have it. You are also one of the expert here and so willing to do a service to his fellowman. Those were just ratings , what is important were your real gestures.

Hi allknowing! That's funny. Hehe. I think most members don't know that they can mark someone's response as best. I only received 2 even though I know I deserve more. Haha. Anyways, I don't think much about it but I hope members do spend a time to rate someone's response on a weekly basis or a monthly if they're really busy. The last 10 (As far as I remember) discussions I made, I've chosen 1 to mark best per discussion. It motivates the people here to make a quality response or good share of thoughts or experiences. Have a great day!

Either they are not aware or they don't do it. It is not compulsory that it is done and it is just a feel good factor. Since the statistics are available I thought of working on them just for fun. Nothing serious really!

Better you get 5% best response out of your all activities. Some members choose members their best responder depending on the reputation not from the content of your post. 5% is not bad. Just continue participate to increase the percentage

I know there is no clear cut basis for tagging best responses but within the frame work it is fun to do some calculations. You need to go to your best response sortie and there you will know how many BR s you have. divide them by your total responses and multiply by 100 you get the percentage.

NO way, I will appreciate it. But it seldom happens. Why I said it? To enjoy the sessions, we need to have nice topics and if come across, regarless of anything, I will comment on the topic and move ahead. So, I would be interested in commenting and discussing rather than looking for anything else. I remember, about 2 years back I got a best response and I felt so happy and I read my own wordings afterwards and was checking what made her to comment good on it!

I have around 60 best responses, most of them are in cricket section. In my opinion many factors work in this case. Firstly detailed posts,if you try to elaborate your points your chances of getting best response increases.Obviously the quality of posts should be good. Also its luck many times, many people start a discussion and then never care to answer any responses,so they wont care about awarding best responses. Then there are people who would given best responses to the person who supported their point most, not to someone who gave added new ideas to your discussion. So its not worth to get disappointed, effort should be to make quality posts and share your opinions freely. If you get best response then its a bonus. How about Mylot giving best responses instead of creator of topic, do you think that would be fair? best wishes.

I am doing this research after 4 years of my being here. That shows that I am not so concerned really. Your observation is perfect in every sense. At the end of the day it depends on how fair a user is.
• India
4 Apr 13
Great that you are not so concerned ,but its very nice to put this topic for discussion. As even if we dont care we should be well informed how this system works.I had an old account which i had to close for some reasons.I remember that i responded to a topic called ''Do you like a black or white horse''.I am not sure that topic is there or deleted now,but just for fun i wrote qualities of black color followed by qualities for horse and i got best response,so there.

LOL@how to eat a mango, you must be an expert in eating a mango just like i am an expert about how black horse is better than white. No that was not my first one, although the last one with that trick,i never tried it again .
