(I know most numbers of people will not like this discussion because it is based on reality) Yes, Everybody knows what is going to start today - IPL,INCOME & PARTY LEAGUE. The game for Marketing,Businessmen,Glamours,Cheer-girls,Actors,Mad Fans and waste of time. Summer is started and already People in Maharashtra facing big trouble of Water Shortage, they are helpless and not getting enough water supply. On the other side In IPL Nine Lack Litre Water will be used per match. Who needs help, that we, **** & ********** knows already. But not why IPL is necessary to held for them every year for long duration. Indian Premier league - Indian Poor League Cheer Girls Dancing - Poor girls walking long for water Green Stadiums - Cracked farms without water Cheaques in players hands - Farmers hands are empty without help (Source:News Channel) Why not IPL EVERY Two/Three years or for Short duration. Poor county or Poverty is Created by wasting money in useless events, instead of helping needful. What you think is it must for them??? to organize Drama.

9 lakhs litre of water for one match, are your facts absolutely genuine. From where do you find these facts. I don't think so your facts are ok. There is no link between water problems and IPL.

But possibility will soon be in reality when Drama matches hosted in Maharashtra. It is clear as you said it's gov. responsibility and they fully support and concentrate only IPL instead of helping people and we can see what is happening.

I just read that there is a possibility of drought in some areas of Maharashtra where IPL matches are being hosted. It's government responsibility that they should shift IPL matches to other venues. It's not IPL fault. IPL is attracting world attention to India. It's a scar on government and not IPL governing council.

Well there are two ways of looking at this, firstly we all know about IPL.Its a money making drama ,sort of carnival which goes on in summer holidays.Like you correctly mentioned about water supply ,many people have raised their voices against use of electricity too. There are hours of cut off in electricity in may towns and villages due to shortage, while IPL matches get uninterrupted supply. However i am not sure about intentions of Zee News here.On numerous occasions they do needless BCCI bashing as they hate BCCI due to all that ICL vs IPL controversy. But there are many events like this, although not as big as IPL,if we have to stop, then should stop all of them,i agree on that.Best wishes.

Main reason is IPL is in attraction of people and gov. as well as corporate/actors having large benefit from it, people are careless they do not oppose for needs instead of wastage in IPL. more and more people getting crazy for this and specially youngers who still doesn't know what is cricket the gentlemen's game (but not today), I don't know full story between IPL,ICL & ZEE but i can say ICL was different and unique in comparison of IPL and not was a money game or longest exhibition so unfortunately it has finished. The new and interesting version of cricket is BPL it is interesting because it doesn't waste more time.

That's what happens when the economy is handed over to the corporate people. They see only money everywhere. Some things should be in the control of Government and the Government should not work out profit on certain basic things. Unfortunately, rulers think differently. (Education, Medicine and natural resources should be in the hands of Government. But, on the contrary, Medicine and Education have become a profitable business here. A thing that we should think of.) If we people stop spending, how can these IPL people spend this much? It is OUR money. I really think this is too much waste of money for just an entertainment. Water to farmers - is a matter to be looked by the Government, not by the corporate people. Whatever litres of water, be it used for IPL but a Government should do what they should. Both are separate issues.

This is biggest opportunity for corporate people to make money and branding themselves. I think Government is not interested to stop them or can't stop because of power of corporate world for Hidden profit. People are mad and blind for this drama and i think they will not stop to watch until reality exposed, I can proudly say i have stopped to watch this long exhibition from 2011 and will not watch. Why they do not support to develop india for help needful. If you remember the issue just before week or two during Holi, Asaram Bapu was fully Blamed by people & Government to use water to play holi it was not a huge amount of water like IPL but Our Government noticed to them misuse of water. People of India are not interested in reality.

I guess if you're having a game ( an official one ) water should be provided and not absolutely all the water in a country can go to the poor as other people need it too. I do agree more should be done for the poor and that applies all over the world including Trinidad where I live.

No one interested to help needful, Money & Marketing is only aim. May be this is official game but this is not necessary to organize every year and for long time of 54 days, If they want to organize for 20-25 days it will be better. no one helping or taking care needful instead of wasting valuable water.

Yeah the draught in maharashtra has become horrible and it would be a real bad idea to have ipl matches in maharashtra as the matches would require high amount of water supply which would not be easy under such draught conditions. Moreover it would be foolish to spend such large amount of water on pitches and grounds when more than half of the population of the state is not getting water even to drink and for basic uses. It would be better to transfer the venues of the matches to be held in maharashtra to some other place untill this calamity has been covered. But regarding the ipl to be held every two or three years,i don't think that would be a good idea because inspite of all it's criticism ipl has proved to beneficial in some ways.First of all ipl provides a oppurtunity to budding cricketers to showcase their talents to the world. It has also provided them with financial security. Moreover whenever events of such magnitude are held it is the local people who are benefitted,it increases the profit of thr local shopkeepers and hotels and other such businesses. As a whole the whole economy of the area is benefitted from such events.

india is in the process of transformation. india is still a developing country so the country cant solve all the problems of the people. but yes i can say that even though the country is not in a position to solve the problem of poor farmers, it could have definitely prevented the problem from occuring at the first instance. its because of poor planing by our politicians the income in our country is unevenly distributed. you know 20% of indian population enjoys 70% of nations wealth. this is the height of inequality existing in this country. to solve this problem we need good politicians to rule this country. we all educated should vote for the right and deserving candidates. and the immediate solution for this problem can be industrialisation of agriculture. india should declare agriculture as an industry, only then big companies can enter agriculture and make it a profitable venture. by doing so more regular employment can also be generated.
