Strike is going on but my son brought some goods from grocery shop

Today my son went to bring some food from hotel. But he saw the shutter of the grocery shop was half opened. So he bought some goods like wheat floor, oil, biscuits from that grocery shop. That shopkeeper is not willing to participate in strike but he has to because he is afraid of the fight between other people who are on strike. Today we got milk also. So we don't have to worry about our meals. Shopkeeper is ready to provide items from back door.

So sorry to hear the the strike has prolong to this day. You are fortunate to have such a good shopkeeper. I hope it will end soon. Strike always bring a lot of inconvenience to people. Be it food, leisure or working life. It is horrible that common people always suffers its consequences.

It is good to hear that you have a friend store ready to provide what your whole family needs, that can be bought at back door. The storekeeper is just practical so that his business would never become empty to have a sale to his loyal patrons.

This scenario also happens here in the Philippines where strikes sometimes happens that shopkeepers are forced to cooperate with the organizers just not to be hated by the group of protesters, and to those backers of the protest. We have a friend shopkeeper, who always give us priority treatments when we like to buy something in spite of the strike. We are still not going to be starving, not like others who are badly effected by the strike, that we could offer them to buy backdoor to in my friend store, yet risk of having others see us going to buy in the store is highly avoided by contacting others to look at the danger, and thank God we are not seen by the bad elements.

It is so disturbing that such strikes happen in the name of betterment of people. Yet, people are the worst affected by these strikes.

Hi, The shopkeeper is really practical. There would be big loss to shopkeepers also due to strike. But some have to participate unwillingly in strike. On Sunday all shopkeepers are allowed to keep their shops open. So we can buy the necessary goods. And so we don't have to worry about strike. And shopkeeper is also ready to provide items from the backside of the store. Thank you for the response.

It is so awful strikes are happening in your area of India. It is hard to get food when grocery shops have strike action going on. I am delighted that your son found a small grocery shop half open so he could buy some essentials. It was so lucky your son saw the back door was open. It is lovely that you don't have to worry about your meals. I had a flight booked on a day London Underground was on a strike. I had to travel all the way to the airport on three different buses. I was still alright for my flight to Prague back in 1996. In 2010 the airline I had booked on was having strike action some days and not other days. It was nerve racking waiting for my day of departure to Vancouver in Canada. Luckily we did depart on the plane okay.

In some places, there are too many strikes, and the problem becomes very grave.

It is bad that such strikes happen. The strikes do not benefit even the shopkeepers. They help others who have vested interests. They cause inconvenience to people, and also cause law and order problems. Protests are ok in a democracy, yet too many strikes do not help anyone.

Hi, You are right. Strikes is not beneficial to shopkeepers and inconvenient for people. But some politicians create the problem to people and disturb the law and order in our country. But we have to face these problems many times because we don't have any option. Thank you for the response.

Rich people call for strikes without taking into consideration the poor or ordinary shopkeepers who are just trying to earn a living. Your country is not alone - we have the same problems across Europe too!

Hi, You are right. Strikes are held without considering the trouble for poor or ordinary people. Government is also not agreeing shopkeeper's demands. thank you for the response.

It's good that the shop keeper still thought of selling despite the strike. I am sure not all would be brave enough to do the same. I hope everything calms down now in your place.

Hi, The businessmen can't really sustain the strike or they'll go bust. It is a bad idea to go on strike but if they feel it could make some changes in the way things are, strike they must. Still the days without business can incur huge losses that may never be recovered. It may be putting up a front of being on strike but it is business as usual in the back door. Nice move.

Well, if I understand correctly, your son was able to buy food, although there was a strike in progress. The shopkeeper kept the shutter open only half right. However, the important thing is that now you have the enough food for the next day.

Wow, this is just a terrible way to have to live...But one must do what one must do..I am so so happy that your son was vigilant enough to notice the shutter half open...and that your family can not have something to eat....I still feel saddness for the other people who has not been as lucky....I just hope the strike ends soon for everyone...\ I have a question..was the food your son purchased just from the supply of the hotel or what??? if so that was a very good move and very very nice of them....

Thus they have managed by this. But now the shopkeepers are keeping their shops for two days so we can buy everything we needed. Thank you for the response,

Yeah. This thing happened with me also , some months back. It was a state strike, and I have to buy milk and other some groceries. Many shops just keeps their shop half-opened so that if any unwanted situation arises, they can shut down easily and fast

Do you know what the strike is about? It's a shame that those who do not want to partake in the strike feel that they are pressurized not to open their shops, after all it's their business, their livelihood, and they have to open to be able to feed themselves and their families. This shopkeeper is a credit to the neighbourhood and is willing to step out from the crowd, there's always a few good people in this world.

Hi, The strike is against the extra taxes on goods. Shopkeepers are also in difficulty. Because keeping their shops closed is also not good for them. They have to bear great loss. But the good news is they are keeping their shops open for two days so we can buy goods which are needed for whole month so we won't have to worry about next days. thank you for the response.
