Do you remember Annette Funnicello? Oh my gosh, I grew up with her and I can't believe she was 70 years old but yet I'm not much far behind. That's really a scary thought. It seems like I watched her just yesterday in some Bikini Beach movie with Frankie Avalon. I remember going to the movie theatre to see her in those movies and we had so much fun back then, being a teeny bopper. She died from complications of her Multiple Schlerosis which she battled for 25 years....how sad. I'm sure she will be missed by many people.

I am so sorry! I surelly remember her. Didn`t she also work at the Disney channel ant the Mickey Mouse club way back then? Right now I`m signing while I write this the M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!!! of the show. I also remember Frankie Avalon (one of my many singer crushes) singing "when a girl changes from bobby socks to stockings". Beautiful memories. We have them in our memories.

Yes, she was on the Mickey Mouse show in the 50s and 60s. It was such a great little show and I loved it, and of course, sang along with them. She really did give us such nice great memeories and I'm sure she'll be missed by a lot of people who knew her, either in person or on tv.

Those were the days when Mickey Mouse was not Mickey-Mouse if you know what I mean? I remember how personal that show was and how you felt, I was pretty young then, the people came right into your living room and of course into your heart.

Hi hon, Yeh, she sure brought back many memories for me of my childhood days. Those were the best! And I sure do remember how my cousin wanted to be JUST like her! All the boys loved Annette! She was very courageous all these years trying to fight off that awful dreaded disease. She will be remembered for a long time.

To be honest my friend, I hadn't heard of her, but my curiousity needed to be sated, so I looked her up to discover she won America’s heart as a 12-year-old in Mickey Mouse ears as well as captivating adolescent baby boomers in slightly spicy beach movies. Plus star in commercials for Skippy Peanut butter. Now I know, what a shame that she lost her fight, 25 years is an awful long time to battle an illness of any kind. RIP Annette.

Because my parents were really strict on what my sister and I watched, we grew up on a lot of old movies. Well, old movies to little kids. Anyway, a lot of them were the beach movies that she was in. And THEN! She appeared on my favorite sitcom when I was a child, Full House. But I think my favorite movie that she was ever in is Babes in Toyland. I loved the movie as a child although it freaks me out somewhat as an adult. Go figure.

We can now look forward to seeing some of them old movies for a little while. Most times some of the networks will play her movies as a tribute. I will get the popcorn and flavored water and enjoy seeing her in the beach party movies. The Mickey Mouse club had a lot of us glued to the front of the TV after school.

Manleyjoe... It was strange because the last couple of weeks they had her beach movies on and here she is gone. I wonder if the news knew a little more than they let on. I always watched the Mickey Mouse club after school...so much fun!

I'm sure I saw that movie too but it must have been a very, very long time ago. I barely remember it...I think I remember the older version more. I used to go to the movies to see her and Frankie running around on the beach all the time. Those were the good old days when you could spend a whole afternoon at the show watching 2 or 3 movies on a Sunday afternoon for one price. She will be missed by plenty of people just for the memories she brings back....it was a much nicer life back then and so much more fun than now.

It really is like looking in the mirror isn't. I like the way you described watching her on the beach like it was yesterday. In fact like dreams they are only yesterday as they live in our memory. I asked a young person what movie they wanted to watch. I had some lying around that came from my father who passed away a few years ago. I said do you like John Wayne and they said, "who is he" ?

When she was popular years and years ago, the world was a much more fun place to live in. People cared about one another. The world has really changed now. I will remember her for the better times when life was much more sweeter and innocent.

I agree, you could see innocence and happiness in the peoples faces. What I find really difficult though is relying on my memory alone. Sometimes we think of sweet things and forget everything else which is really a good thing to do by the way just not really accurate. Someone said to me once that in those old 50 movies where they bring the cars down the street, that they are usually restored cars and immaculate. They said they should throw garbage in the gutters to make it look more real.

What I'm remembering is people helping people who need an extra hand at times. In other words one hand washed the other. There was a little old lady who lived two doors away from us, all alone, and would ask my father if he could climb her pear tree and retrieve pears because of course she could not do it. He would of course without any hesitation, and in turn, she would let him have all the pears he wanted in return. There was enough to go around for everyone. Not many people do that anymore. People took pride in their homes, painted when it was needed, cut the lawns, swept the sidewalks and cleaned up junk left in the streets, worked hard at their jobs, and visited friends on the weekend. That's what I remember...a much different time when things were cut and dry..right or wrong, with no in between.

Yes, those were the good old days when things were just plain clean fun. What a change this world has been put through, and I can't say it's for the better either. She was a sweetheart and will be missed by many people.

Yes she will be missed by many of us who rushed home from school to watch the latest happenings from the Mickey Mouse Club. I am looking forward to the networks showing some of her movies as I did not get to see them all when they came out.

Yes, I'm sure the networks will do this. I mentioned in the above response that they had her movies on last week which was strange. I think there was 2 or 3 different beach movies. My sister told me today that she was in a coma for years and they just decided to take her off life support. I didn't know that at all...how very sad. At least she went peacefully.

Yes, I know of her and its terrible that she is gone. She gave so much joy to others while in the Disney show and the movies. She was so cute and perky. Its a shame that she suffered so much in the past twenty-five years with bad health. I remember when I heard the report about her being diagnoised with Multiple Scherosis at the age of 45.

Yes, she was a very sweet girl and I remember how my cousin wanted to be just like her. I remember that report too, and was so shocked back then. I guess you just don't think problems could happen to people like that...but they're just like you and I.

Oh yes, that is sad. I, too, grew up watching her on the show - along with the other mouseketeers. Recently, Ozzy Osbourne's son, Jack, was diagnosed with MS. It's a shame it hit her so badly. A close friend of hers used to call her on her birthday each year til one day, a few years ago, Annette's husband answered and said, "Annie can't talk anymore." She had lost her ability to speak. Walt Disney asked her to please wear a one-piece bathing suit in those movies rather than a bikini - reminding her she had an image to uphold. She loved Walt like a second father, so she never did wear a bikini in those movies.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the Mickey Mouse club in my discussion. I used to watch that all the time when I was little and sang along too. Aww, so sad about her speech, I didn't know that. She was one courageous lady. I remember hearing about the bikini and the one piece bathing suit. She did have that clean good girl image and they wanted that to stay around. I think she did a good job doing that. She sure did bring back some childhood memories for me...when everything was fun and normal.

Yes, I'm sure she will be missed by a lot of people. Her last few years were not very pleasant and I was sorry to hear all that. I remember her when I was a kid too and watched the Mickey Mouse Club.
