Yesterday, I responded to some posts started by new lots. Today, I got 4 notifications that 'my answer has been deleted because the question it was under was deleted'. I am regretting now, I should have not wasted my time on responding to 'Poll-Type' posts. On one such post, I suggested the user not to start such kind of discussions as it will not do good on his/her ratings; though, I knew it was going to delete eventually. I am just hoping he/she may have got my messag.

We should as it is very irritating when you next day a notification saying that your posts have been deleted. It happened to me too yesterday 3 of my posts have been deleted. I will also try first to check the discussion then respond.

I also think it is good to post on quality discussions rather than pole or game type discussions.

Today 2 of mine have been deleted although they weren't a poll-type. I guess it falls under 'personal achievement' or something. I know it is irritating when you do not get credit for what you do.

hi rekhum you know what? If you would reread the guidelines on making discussions and what breaks the rules then you would have a better chance of avoiding the ones that break the guidelines rules. I have gone back every once in a while and refreshed my own memory on the do nots then applied that to discussions I was going ro respond to and found that four of them really had violated the guidelines like pole and milestone and people just keep right on making them when if they read the do nots they just might learn not to respond to a rule breaking discussion or make one either.. I know its not always sure but most all the time it is really helpful as you know which ones to not touch. That way we get to keep more of our own earnings]

I think most probably if a person tries to following the guidelines there would be no problem in the discussion being deleted.

Hatley, I am not quite sure if all my responses that were deleted were of poll-types. But, I am certain there was a post started by a newbie who I guess is on my friend's list. I responded to the post and then warned the user; although, I knew it was going to be deleted. But there are times you cannot figure out why the post you responded to is being deleted. They may be duplicates I guess.

It doesn't bother me that my responses get deleted. I also hope they got the message. These newbies need to learn to read the TOS and the guidelines when they come here though. Every site has rules. Surely Mylot isn't their fist experience with the internet.

Yes you are right. If the poll-type is followed by the open ended question, the post should not be deleted. Well, even if users want to start a poll-type post, they should have a way with words. I mean a question can be asked in many ways. But I have noticed that most of the newbies end their one liner posts with 'this' or 'that', which let the mylot team to delete the posts.

That rule about "Poll type" confuses me though. As long as the poster writes it in a way that it can be discussed properly like say instead of "Which sport do you like better? Football or basketball?", it could be followed by a "why?". This way opinions can be given and conversation made.. Amiright? Well, it make sense to me anyway.

I am careful what I respond to here in Mylot, some times it not just the newbies, the post discussions that get deleted, so I have to read the discussion carefully and know when, to comment and when not to comment, because some people just don't care, what they post here in Mylot.

You are right, the other type of posts that I am now avoiding is the 'milestone/personal achievement' types. Many a times my responses were deleted under those questions or posts.

Yeah it happens to me on occassion too. It is kind of annoying but i guess most times i see a thread i assume will be deleted, i still go on and answer if i got something to say. So i cant really blame anyone :p

It will be a good idea to warn the user instead. Because, eventually the post will be deleted but he/she may not repeat their mistakes.

absolutely. even some of my posts have been deleted. even though some of the new mylotters are starting discussion without reading the terms and conditions of mylot, but what i feel is that instead of blaming them we should also be carefull be fore participating in a discussion. afterall the decision to respond to a particular discussion is ours only na.

Correct, but not unless you are responding to duplicate post that you are not aware that it's going to be deleted. You can clearly figure out the poll-types. So it's up to the person who is responding to the post what he/she can expect out of it. good day!

yes i totally agree with you. it is difficult on our part to check the duplicate posts but what to do we have to cope up with these things.

i experienced of such notifications. we should be more careful before writing response or discussion. each deletion has some negative impact on our rating.

You are right it has negative impacts on our ratings. For instance, mine always use to go up and down when I was a newbie here, as my posts were also deleted a few times.

Such a waste on effort, isn't it? I know how you feel. I have gone through a lot of discussions too which got deleted eventually. This is the main reason why I try to look into the topic first before responding, if I feel that it has a chance of getting deleted (especially if it's obviously breaking mylot rules), I would try avoiding it. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

I get notifications all the time about a discussion being deleted that I had responded to. sometimes, I know right away that they will be deleted, and so I will help the user, but telling them it will be deleted, and as to why. you are right, that poll type questions will be deleted, and if the new users would just read the faqs and guidelines, then they wouldn't be starting discussions that will eventually get deleted. We are here to help others, and if that means getting our response deleted because of it, then so be it. I wold hope that our help would do some good, and users will know what they can and can't do in here. Take care, and have a very good day.

Well, I thought it will be a better idea if we are able to send personal message to the user, suggesting not to start those kind of posts. Because, when a user is not on your friends list you cannot send a PM to the user. That way we can be sure that they read our warnings.

That is why let us be alert , reading first two sentences we will already know that it is a poll type of question and sometimes reading alone the title will tell us . True let us not waste our time with Poll type , anyways so many discussion here where we can join.

When your post gets deleted, your ranking goes down. So, it's better to not start poll-type discussions or respond to them. Welcome and happy mylotting.

This has happened to me quite a lot, too. I have read the guidelines, but I think experience really is the best teacher. I think the questions I responded to were poll-type questions, too. I find poll-type questions interesting, so I think I sort of forgot about the guidelines and jumped right in into answering.

At times our posts may duplicate due to unstable internet and that is totally fine. It happened to my posts too. I send a link to mylot team to have the one i did not want to be posted, deleted.

It happens to everyone sometimes. Some days I will answer discussions that I know will be deleted, either because they are fun or because I am warning the person that they are breaking the guidelines here. Other times I really don't know if it will be deleted or not, some can kind of go either way but I prepare for it just in case... I don't mind when it happens though. I will still respond to the ones that are too fun to pass up!
