I don't get it! I noticed a couple of discussions where the writer said they were a Dr.. I can't help but wonder why a dr. would be on mylot making such little money. I could say I'm the Queen of England and nobody would know any different. I know you can be anyone you want on the internet but I don't know why people would want to say something their not. I know that if one of these people were to give me medical advice I wouldn't take it. What do you think about dr's being members of mylot? Believe it or not?

I don't think it so odd that a doctor would be on here. Not everyone is here for the money. I get on here to unwind at night when I get out of work and just because I enjoy interacting with people. The money is just a bonus. And who knows, maybe the doctor is a retired doctor who has time on hand to share his/her knowledge. If you are on here asking for medical advice to begin with then that alone says that you don't care whether you are getting it from a doctor or not.

NO, I don't really take any advice unless it's from my dr. I like to see how others feel about different things even if they are about medicine. So many people have or don't have the same symptoms as myself and it's good to see how they cope with it.

Ok I understand that you would not take medical advice from anyone on here but I don't understand why you think it so odd that a doctor would be on here. You have a degree and you are on here because you are disabled, right? I don't know. I just don't see it as odd that a doctor would be on here and yes, unless I have reason to belove otherwise then I don't just assume someone would lie about such a thing.

Well I am openly a wolf on Mylot, but do you believe I am actually a wolf or a human? I call myself wolfie, but would people see my avatar and my name and believe I truly am a wolf? Growls... Maybe they qualified to be a doctor and got the letters after their name but never made it any further. There are loads of letters you can have after your name for passing exams etc, but you don't have to work in that chosen profession. I actually have an NVQ3 in Childcare, and I could say I am a childcare professional! Which makes it sound grand. But I am fully trained to look after 0-8 year olds, but I Choose NOT to work with children but I still have the qualification which I can use.

I have a little Associates Degree in Developmental Disabilities. It's not great but every bit of education helps. I don't work in this area in fact I don't work at all due to my own disabilities. hmmm....and I thought you were a wolf!..

Why stop at doctors? There are a lot of jobs out there that pay better than $10.00 a month. Some people here get paid by the hour and receive a weekly pay check.

We all have the right to be here regardless of what kind of money we are making outside the Mylot.

As others have said, not everyone is here for the money. Some people are here to have an outlet about every day life. Some people are just here to meet some friends. I do believe there are people from all walks of life here, which I personally am glad about because it gives us so many more perspectives about things! =) I would not be surprised if there were doctors here, just to help others more and meet some new people. I don't care if others tell the truth about who they are or not. I do and that is all I have to worry about. I like being honest, lies catch up with you and it forms a web.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. I'm here and I'm a brain surgeon, but no one believes me. Uh oh, I feel a web coming on.

I think you have doctor's in all kind of ways. Also.. who says everybody is here just because of making money???? I am not here because of that in the first case but to read about what is keeping other people's mind busy, to learn about different point of views, etc.. which keeps my mind busy again. Anything wrong with that? BTW if you are here for making money you better go find a job since it's a waste of time plus the use of the computer, electricity, connection will cost you way more as what you earn.

If you are going to ask medical advice on Mylot then I would think you would be grateful that amongst the responders, one or two might be a doctor. Basically this person is saying that he would not take the advice from a doctor on here which means tbe alternative...he'd prefer the advice of any of us that are not doctors....good plan!

I don't know many people who aren't here to make a little bit of money because even $10 is a big deal to me. I don't take advice from anyone but my drs. I like to see how other people feel about things because it's always good to get a lot of opinions.

if i were a celebrity or an heir of a successful businessman or i've earned my place in a prestigious position, i wouldn't mind doing normal everyday stuff anonymously to share what i can't say in public and to know what 90% of the world is thinking, doing, feeling, going through. i think that's the beauty of the internet. you don't have to go out wearing a disguise and engage friends and family to hatch diversionary tactics. if you posted a medical problem and someone responded to your discussion who is in the medical profession like a nurse, or involved in emergency response, or someone who had the same medical issue or took care of a loved one, it's because they want to help, so i would appreciate the sincere intention and decide for myself whether to believe them, research their suggestion, then discuss with my own doctor.

They could be a doctor of philosophy or something that is not about medicine. And I suppose even a medical doctor could be on mylot and there to help others non gratis. I do get advise from know-it-alls who advise me on what to eat, what medicines to take, and there are definitely not doctors. I guess the only people allowed on mylot should be no talents, have no professional trades. Besides I suppose the medical people hear should give their true names and addresses and if they live in a dictatorship and were fighting against the dictatorship like treating people the dictator considers enemies, they would also be in great danger. As for advise, if it were common sense and you get it from your personal doctor who may be on vacation right now. I would say take it. I do think that any lies can be checked out by virtue of all the posts and responses the doctor gives out.

I don't see why it would be that odd for a doctor to post here on mylot. One great thing about some doctors, especially those who run family practices, is that they make enough money that they only need to work a few patients a day and the rest of the time they have free time. I knew a doctor couple that in total, took 90 days of vacation a year. Maybe some doctors like to come on here and post for fun because they heard about it through friends or family.

There are different types of doctors as was mentioned above. And, I also feel that they could be retired too if they are a doctor. Or, they could have hurt themselves somehow, or are disabled, and they find myLot an interesting website. If I was given advice here on myLot I would just research it myself and then talk with my personal doctor. No harm done.

Not all who are doctors are medical doctors. I would be rather suspicious of anyone who claimed any sort of higher education but does not know better than to abbreviate "doctor" throughout her or his discussion. It is only abbreviated when used as part of a title (i.e., Dr. Robert Andrews). I would also be rather suspicious of the educational attainment level of anyone who uses "doctor's" as the plural of "doctor." An educated person would know that "doctor's" is the possessive form of "doctor." There are a few people on myLot who do hold higher degrees. However, the vast majority do not.

I'm a doctor too, but not a medical doctor; I've a PHD a doctor of philosophy. I'm well qualified, I've an undergraduate degree - a BSC, a masters degree - an MSC and a PHD, but I'm not and never have been wealthy financially. Before retirement I managed various voluntary organisations as you can imagine, although I earned an annual salary, it was average, not spectacular. I'm a skilled counsellor and have worked with mentally ill people, people with learning difficulties, phobics, people with relationship problems, all sorts. You might be advised to see a doc, but no professional will even attempt a diagnosis without seeing you. I'm not a member of mylot because of fees - which are derisory anyway, but because of the range of views and opinions expressed here.
