I usually download huge files on my desktop because it has a lot of space and it keeps on running 24/7. But when I want to work on my laptop I need the bandwidth so I have to go upstairs and pause the download. Is there some way in which I can handle the torrent download from the network computer like my laptop..

You may use Remote Desktop software such as TeamViewer or PCRemoteServer. As about how things work, please refer to their manual Although I guess it will be a lot more practice if you just install another BitTorrent client on your laptop..

Of course you can handle that part from your laptop. Seeing that your Laptop and your Computer are connected on the same network, you can install a PC remote Server on your Desktop computer and then you can control it remotely from your laptop. The interface gives you a live feed of your desktop screen and also capabilities of mouse-control and keyboard input. If you also need to have to get a document or movie from the desktop into your laptop, you can control that too remotely by copying the files into your sharing folder in your desktop remotely from your laptop itself.

If both your desktop and laptop are connected to the same network, the simple solution would be remote desktop. I'm not aware of any other way to control the functioning of .exe files from a remote location.
