I was at that time preparing a topic to be discussed on issues of Office decorum, when a group of teachers approached me, asked if I can spare a bit of my time for an interview. They said they are all teachers and is making a case study on topics as a student of Master of Public Administration. As we go along with our discussions I asked Why? PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, for at their level it must be subject mastery and they all give almost the same answer, wanting to be a leader. At the end of our discussions I asked one questioned but with a prized if any of them can complete the Statement, here it goes, " ONCE A TEACHER IS ALWAYS A __________________" no one answer and we indeed laughing and it was a happy moment on my hectic schedule. You, what do you think is the right word if you are a teacher ?

Hi there!
I would say that once a teacher, always a learner. When we become teachers, it does not end there. We learn as we teach. We learn from our experiences, we learn from our students, and we should always keep that desire to learn alive because we should not stop learning. We should stay updated with the latest updates on knowledge and the technology and we should always look out for better and more efficient ways of delivering the lessons that we are to teach.

Hi there Abihaaa4! Welcome to Mylot and thank you for your comment. Yes, with learning comes development because without any application, we do not learn, we only gain knowledge and it is important that as teachers, we get to choose carefully what and how to apply the new knowledge that we gain.

Wow, that's what I am thinking too for being a teacher you must always be upgraded of whats new for you to be an effective teacher. In short once a teacher is always a student.

@inopiratum yes in the Philippines most of the teachers that I had in grade school were single.
yes lack of exposure, too much work to have time for socialization and they say, the teachers love the kids so much so they don't like divided attention.

It was always construed as old maid for many teacher become an old maid in the future maybe for lack of exposure to other side of society afraid of side comments that can affect her dignity as a teacher for her a teacher is a role model and that made the difference.

What time? The absent word in the phrase " ONCE A TEACHER IS ALWAYS A __________________" would be 'teacher'. If are a true teacher you will always have those traits. Seems simple enough to me.

You can't always be a teacher for what is applicable for today may not applicable for tomorrow you need to study new method introduce. Once a teacher is always a student.

When we speak of teacher we don't mean income. To be a teacher is not an occupation it is a vocation. So always remember a teacher is not just ordinary word it is full of compassion and obligation. Nowadays people are wanting to be a teacher and then demand a higher salary, that is greediness and insanity. A pauper is person who ask without labor a teacher is who gave without asking in return.

Yup! That's exactly the word I would have used. Two of my aunts are teachers and they like to give instructions to everyone and are really strict. Their children have to keep reminding them that they are in the school.

is the answer 'once a teacher always a teacher' i usually find that teachers never usually switch off they are always correcting your spelling or punctuation or explaining things to you. My partner is a teacher and she does all of these things so does her friends so once a teacher always a teacher.

Maybe but to be sure a teacher must not stop learning so once a teacher must always be a student to update her knowledge knowledge on what goes on.

Teotimo I think it was a very funny moment because we know teacher is always a "leader" but we know there are real leaders and fake leaders.
If teachers are good leaders we love them so much and are greatful to them, and never forget their words or spirit, or wisdom.
But if teachers aren´t good leaders we refuse them in many ways and critize them.
I remember when I was in college we the students used to call with funny nick names the unpleasant teachers. (I apologize but it is true)

I think that it is always a teacher, because i cant think of anything else and in my opinion changing or trying to over do it might make it loose it's meaning. SO in my opinion a teacher once will be a teacher till the day that God almighty takes his or her last breathe.

You can be a teacher today but not tomorrow. Your knowledge for today may be obsolete for tomorrow and no one wants your teaching. Education is growing past you must to catch up and for that you need to brass up yourself to upgrade your knowledge. So once a teacher is always a student. You can't teach without learning first.

I like this story.
Teacher is a holy occupation and in China, being a teacher is similar as being a psychiatrist and the only difference lies in the treatment goes to either your mentality or your physical body. Based on my experiences, once a teacher is always a trainer. Teachers not only need to be qualified for training students with knowledge but also be aware of the fact that they are setting up a example for their students to follow the suit. Therefore, they are doing a self-training for their self-improvement and also training the country's future generations for better improve the country.

As a Chinese student,I think"once a teacher is always a father".this is also the Chinese proverb.Even if the teacher only teach youself one day,we also treat our teacher in our lifetime as a father.I think every students should do respect for the teachers who were committed to helping all the students accept the education for our country.
