My last camera while I presently use is a digicam which is handy. I like it. I can carry it anywhere I desired to go since it is not that bulky. Additionally, charging it is very easy. Also, the features of the camera are excellent. And what I liked the most is its resolution which is very fantastic. I am pretty much contented with it. By the way, it is Olympus SZ-20. My fellow mylotters, do you like also handy digital cameras or do you prefer those bulky ones? What are your thoughts about it?

Digi-cams are handy of course but having those bulky ones mean better shots!:) When digital cameras first came out, I was one of the first in line to buy it and then changed as well as it kept evolving. But in one of my adventures, I slipped in a hot spring and lay underwater together with my camera. Since then I never brought a camera with me when i traveled. It felt good to just enjoy places without getting bothered shooting them. My five senses were so much more fulfilled. If I were with friends then I would have photos taken by them anyway. Now, I am planning to buy a one good bulky cam as you call it.:) I think it is about time that I buy one to not only record beautiful places and interesting situations but to record them in a very good quality!:)

Hi, One reason I am going for the water resistant ones, it go with you where ever you may want to go, in any condition, even underwater if the need arises. Some smartphones now features higher resolution and better point and shoot capabilities that approaches that of DSLRs, I am planning to have one of them when the budget allows. I am targeting one of those Sony Xperia models coming to the market recently but their price is still way beyond me.

as for me, i would prefer a handy digital camera because it is light and easy to carry around unlike big cameras that are kind of heavy and bulky. just as long as the digital camera has some great features of taking beautiful pictures, i think that is ok.

I know a handy digital camera is much more convenient. However, I still prefer to carry the bulky digital camera like DSLR. Since I pay more attention to the photo quality. So I don't mind the digital camera will be heavier and bigger. If I want to take a photo anytime, I will choose to use my mobile phone or tablet.

Like you I also love digital cameras. I own two sony and canon, but I love canon more. It is a must have for me, I always carry one on my bag, because I'll always love taking pictures and it is always nice to capture moments. Charging batteries is never an issue for me, but I find the chargers bulky, that's why I always make it a point to carry a spare battery whenever I feel like not bringing the charger.

Nowadays smartphones have pretty good cameras that can match point-and-shoot cameras. And smartphones are even more portable, plus you will always have it with you compared to point-and-shoot camera which you usually will not be carrying with you even if it is portable if you didn't have the intention of taking photos originally. To me, simple cameras will soon lose their use and if I am getting a camera it will be a DSLR.
