No cancel or change tab?

In following various discussions I have seen what happened to me happen to many others. I thought I was ordering postal stamps and after all preliminary boxes were filled in be me, I found to my horror I had erred as this company did not sell stamps only stamp making materials. To my dismay there was no cancel or change order tab at all. I emailed them that I had erred and wanted to buy stamp not make them. They never responded but they charged my account x number of dollars., Aad while I sent another email to them I noticed that they had just drew out another payment from my bank account,. So at least I found out they were in Los Angles so phoned their 800 number and explained . They were really good about returning the two payments and canceling ny order. Then on reading others discussions who had similar things happen to them I realized that a lot of companies do have a cancel or change tab where you can cancel an order if you have made a mistake. So I feel since none of us are perfect, all companies on the net should have a cancel tab and a change tab too. your take ? .

At a cost, of course, of not putting in a complete response. In the UK there is a statutory cooling off period for financial transactions - I'm not sure of the details, but then it can be argued too that the site malfunctioned and churned up the order.

Hi Hatley Yes I agree it just makes for a better business policy, if they were to have a cancel or change tab. How frustrating for you I am glad to hear that they returned your money.

I also think that most probably their business will improve if they have a cancel or change button as more people will have good impression on the company.

hi LaurenLynn Yes they were really kind to me and they returned both payments in just a week, I felt really frustrated when I could not find a cancel or change button or tab anywhere. I know most of the companies I do business with have those tabs so why not everybody, on the net who is selling merchandise?

I think as more and more commerce is done online honest companies will save their customers and themselves lots of hassles by having change, edit or cancel tabs placed prominently in their order system. That one little item may make or break a relationship with a customer.

hi GardenGerty yes they all need this as human beings will err and will need to set things right.I have since the stamp making incident really watched and any company online that did not have a cancel button I just did not use or just canceled.

If they don't don't use them! I would call my bank. I have had to do this in the past because a company was charging me past the shut off date. Meaning I had signed up for the month of free service and forget to call and cancel. So the bank helped me.

ou know celtic I once got a stupid idea to join a site that supposedly would let you win pretty well with picking numbers from their lottery,But the cost was supposed to be three dollarts a month , I like an idiot gave them ny debit card numnber so the first month I p aid three dollar snd o nly made two dollars.,I was not doing too well so the next month I won five dollars and went to my bank account t and the five was missing and instead of three dollars taken out for that month was a charge of five dollars,. I talked to my bank and they canceled the overdraft as my social security check had not posted yet and I was was overdrawn two dollars. Also they banned this company fromn taking any money out of my account and also they forced then to send me my five dollar earnings and the two dollar over charged then I just cancelled them as they were really crooked.

Sounds pretty crooked. You really have to read the terms of use on these sites. I remember my fiasco with that auction site. Can't recall it's name ri----oh, it was Quibids.com. Ugh! They took $60 out of my account. I hadn't read the TOS and I sure do now days. May take some time but it is worth it in the end.

Stick to buying your postal stamps from the postal service. When it comes to buying things online, one should be careful to stick to reputable companies. A company's contact information should be easy to find on its site, and the website design should make it easy to alter one's order as needed. Also, payment information should not be entered until you are finished shopping and are checking out.

hi PQ and Wilson I now have an account with the real deal USPS com and I ordered enough stamps for me for several months., just the plain old American flag ones as they are much cheaper and work just as good as the fancy ones.I was careless that time so learned a real lesson. Most of the places I do business with do have a cancel or change tab.Its so much easier for me with my walker to just order stuff online rather than pay over 7 dollars to take the access bus to heaven's knows where to the Garden grove Post office. I have a big hassle trying to get on city buses as I am using a walker besides I have a bad right arm due to a shoulder joint replacement that does not work as well as my own shouter joint. I have to lift my left arm with my right hand so I can climb the steps the railing going up the steps on the older buses with myh left hand on one railing.. used to work[]

hi Pointless questions that is probably true as once you accidentally order something you do not want or cannot stop it from being sent. I have a skirt I got that way.It fits my waist but its wa y too snug around my hipos. And it would cost me five dollars to return to the company I ordered from by mistake.I am hoping I can lose enough weight so I can at last wear it.

I also think it would be good to have a cancel button to change the ordering thing. I think most of the companies do have this except a couple of them.

I'm curious Hatley why you didn't order straight from the USPS? That's the only place I'll order my stamps online if I'm doing it online. Most of the time when I have the car, I'll go to the post office which I know you can't. But, you can do that online.

GAH I had this all typed out and mylot logged me out. I HATE HATE HATE the offers that never lead to logging me in. I feel that online shops need to have a cancellation option online or at least a confirm your order is correct after the order is placed email. I like how vista print makes me initial my orders after I design them to confirm I've done them the way i want.

I think that there should at least be the option to cancel orders because we are human and that does mean that we make mistakes from time to time. However, I really do feel that you were very lucky with the mistaken order that you placed because you were able to get in touch with customer service at the company and they did refund your money to them. With some companies it is impossible to get in touch with customer service and then you have to dispute the charges with your companies that you use.

They should. Companies already make it easy for customers online, so they should understand that a cancel or change tab should is necessary because it easy for people to make mistakes. Furthermore, if people do make mistakes, they should also make it easy for people when they call or email.

As you know, I can identify perfectly with what you're saying. Your feelings of horror when you were charged was exactly the same way I felt when NEXT 'charged' me. Fortunately, I (albeit, in what I thought was 'pretend' fashion) picked the option NOT to pay now, otherwise I'd probably be in debt now, such was the amount in question. However, it should be easier than it is to cancel an order, especially online. I order from BHS all the time and play around with codes because I know I can cancel it at the end if the codes aren't to my satisfaction. I thought I'd be able to do this in the NEXT site and I was mortified when I couldn't do so...so, yes, there should be a cancellation button on ALL sites, it should be compulsory.

hi Janey yes I really think all companies should have a cancel or change order tab preferably both. I know I goofed on the stamp thing but there were boxes that really led me to believe they sold stampts. But like lots of mylotters who do not read the guidlines and FAQ's I did not read all the information and assumed ed it was selling stamps.

hi janey yes they should h ave a cancel tab and make changes;tab not to h ave them is really thoughtless on their part.they should make it useable for every one who would wan to trade with them. t

Awww! It's amazing how different websites are from one another. Because I test them periodically I know which ones er..need more work. I am surprised at NEXT, however, due to them making lots of money and being profitable..so the least they can do is present a website we can all understand.

I think all businesses that having ordering options on the internet should have a change and cancel button. Can you imagine all the complaints they probably get? I would rather have happy customers who would tell people how good the company is than a lot of unhappy people.

lost my whole comment velvet and cynthiann so copy now.yes when you get the wrong thing or too many of something because you could not cancel you will not want to use that company again even if their prices were really great. I do check now to see whether or not they have a cancel an change tabs for you to use.I will bypass those companies who do not have cancel and change tabs.

That is a good idea to check that out. If I owned a business I would want everyone to be happy and I would welcome suggestions to make things better. Those companies will learn the hard way.

Most legit online sites do have a area where you can cancel an order. And some sites basically that all sales are final. In which case there would be no cancellation or refund. But there are those sites that seem to have overlooked that simple little thing as you mentioned here. I am glad you got them on the phone and straightened it out.

I felt that you should purchase such items from the official postal service website because these stamps do not have much commercial profit value for businesses to sell them. Besides, I believe such retailing requires a postal service licence to make them legitimate sales outlets which is another cumbersome consideration for interested retailers. To what I have experienced before, I felt that this online site's communications and transactions are not being maintained elsewhere otherwise the second charge should never have taken place at all. It seems like you got away unscathed where and thankfully the 800 service center number is a legitimate one. I could not imagine how much more they would deduct from your bank account. Be careful.

hi artemis I had a good account with USPS until some moron declared my password was not valid and I tried to find an admins to protest as I knew the password was valid as I had used it not two months before so since i had tried three times to convince someone there that my password was correct,I went to this other company thinking they sold stamps, signed up then to my dismay realized they did not sell stamps they sold machines to make your own. I could find no cancel button or tab but finally I did get an 800 number and those who answered were most helpful. I got back both withdrawals from my bank account and canceled my account with them. I learned to really read all the information even the small print before signing anything. Then I went back to my USPS account found a way to contact an admins and she looked Up my account and said my password was valid so I can now use my UPS account tp buy stamps again.

hi Ricki yes I would still be making payments on that machine that I never intended to order had I not found that 800 number and explained to them what happened. They really were most kind and I got back both payments I had not thought I authorized them to take out of my bank account. I learned to first read all information even fine print before ever signing anything.Thnen if there is no cancel button you know enough to not order from a company that does not have any way to cancel an order.

Wow, that was a close take. Fortunately you were able to detect and found out that they were in Los Angeles. Otherwise the money would have gone blindly as they do not have cancel or change button. I do purchase items online too. And when i change my mind not to buy or i want to make amendments to my purchase, there is always an option for me to go back. I agree that companies who sell items online should provide a cancel or change option for customer to make final decision before purchasing.

h deepak those who complain have valid reasons to as they waited and waited with no results even if there was a tab to cancel as all companies are not so obliging. Too a lot of comp anies are out outsourcing various parts of their company so that those complaining have had to talk to people who used English as only a second language and often misunderstood what the complainer was talking about. some companies do not offer a tab to cancel .You were lucky to do business with companies who did cancel and refund your money.
