Hello MyLotters. Around the beginning of April I started feeling really sick. My stomach was hurting me a lot and I had to keep going to the toilet. It was literally every 5 - 10 minutes that I had to go. This lasted from Sunday morning to late Tuesday night and then it finally stopped. But even after all that my stomach was still hurting. I went to the doctors and the doctor said that I had food poisoning. I have never had this before. I'm guessing it is because I didn't cook chicken properly even though I am really careful with that sort of thing but whatever gave it to me, I had it. The doctor said I would be feeling sick for about another 10 days. 10 days has definitely gone by and every single day and night, my stomach hurts. Even right now, this is why I am starting this dicussion. It is sore right in the middle of my stomach and sometimes moves to my lower left or lower right. And I also have the feeling of wanting to vomit but I haven't vomited once yet. I will be going to the doctor hopefully tomorrow. I can't now cause it is Sunday. Was just hoping someone could give me any information about food poisoning please? Have you ever had it or known anyone to have it? I just feel really really sick. The other day I went to the shops and I was walking and my stomach was really starting to hurt as well as my chest and I had to slow down because I felt as if my normal pace of walking would make me vomit. Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

You poor girl. That's an awful long time to still be feeling the effects of food poisoning. I have had it before, several times. It usually passed after a couple of days. I have heard that the longer the poison is in your body the longer you will feel the effects. Did you remember when you first felt ill? Was it right after you ate the chicken? I mean like did you wake during the night having to run to the toilet? That would be your body reacting quickly to the poison and trying to rid its self of the nasty stuff. Or, was it a day or two after the chicken? that would give it a strong hold and make you sick longer. Usually, when I had had food poisoning it was from chicken I had cooked myself. I know, nasty, right? But it has always shown its self quickly, like that night or first thing in the morning. I have usually been able to tell as I was eating the chicken that something was kind of off, know what I mean? But it has always passed in a day or two. I do know someone that had food poisoning and was sick for nearly a year, no kidding. His body just was not able to kick it. His doctor told him not to eat anything fatty or spicy. Actually he was put on a plain rice diet. no butter, no salt. Hopefully you will get some answers from your doctor soon. Be sure and follow all directions. I will pray for your quick recovery.

I just read somewhere that black tea and burnt toast would be good for you. The tannic acid in the tea and the charcoal in the toast would help to neutralize the toxins and help you to get better much quicker. Give it a try, it can't hurt anything. It's all natural.

Wouldn't you suggest some probiotic supplement for the intestinal flora? Or at least some Yoghurt, preferrably unsweetened? Because the bananas are prebiotics, which means they feed the bacteria there, but they dont put any new beneficial bacteria in us...

I suggest that go to the hospital asap. Depending on the analysis of your doctor, he/she may recommend perhaps your blood be examined and undergo ultrasound to see the status of your digestive system. Nevertheless, did the doctor prescribe you any medicine? Since though I am not totally sure, some or most victims of food poisoning are confined to the hospital. But it's also possible that yours is just a minor case of food poisoning, thus your doctor didn't had you admitted to the hospital. I really think that visiting your doctor again is the best thing to do since just like you said you're not feeling well.

Ohh i don't really know anything about food poisoning. But i guess the body is trying to clear out whatever it is that poisoned you. So you will need to be as healthy as possible to allow the body to remove those toxins. Drink a lot of water, it should help. Eat some fruits and vegetables, avoid stress. Hope you feel better soon AussieGal. :)

That's sounds a little but worrying. I'm glad you are going to book and appointment with the doctors soon. I have never had food poisoning before and by the sounds of it, I hope I never do get it. Sounds awful. Try and eat as healthy as you can. Fruits, vegetables and water to try and flush all the bad toxins out. Good luck and I hope you feel a lot better soon!
