Our basement flooded last week we had so much rain nonstop that is started coming through the foundation. It's never happened in our house before but it was an insane amount of rain! Luckily the rain has stopped and it's warm sunny weather ahead. We spent hours sucking up the water and it's now drying up down there. It just smells somewhat wet and gross. Once it's dry we need to clean everything good. What a pain!

luckily we never put carpet down there so the floor can be repainted and finished for a low value back to normal again. We saw it coming so we got everything off the floor as much as we could so it wouldn't be destroyed. Fans are going now and windows are open so am hoping it will dry and air out!

We had that happen in a house we rented about twenty some years ago - and then again, in the apartment unit we lived in until we moved to this house! In the first one - so many things got ruined - the smell never goes away. In the second case - the flooding was caused by a combination of factors - including backed up sewage. Luckily, we had time to get almost everything off the floor before it really hit hard - our apartment unit was two stories, with one story being in the basement level. They had to move us - and the furniture down there - in to another unit while they tore the carpet out and redid everything! No way could we go back into a place with sewage damage - uck factor big time!

Yikes! Having flooding in you home sucks! Luckily all the rain we have gottan here recently,my basement stayed dry! At the horse stable I work at,once in awhile, the the indoor arena flooded! So did a few of the horse stalls! It is going to take forever to get the indoor arena dry! It had happened 5 years ago and it was even worse! In other places in the state I live, people lost their homes when rivers went over flood level and washed the homes away! I will never forget the year of 2008!

That sometimes happened to our house, too when there was a leaking roof. I had a hard time cleaning up. This house needs a complete renovation.
