Pottering about in my garden can be very enjoyable

I hope the weather gets sunny and warm so I can get out and about in my garden. I wish to continue painting the shed that is meant to be a summer house and the fences. I want to make a new planting area. I am keen to make a patio on a budget. It would have to be concrete to stop any of the horse tail weed coming through it. My back garden is blighted with the horse tail weed you see. In my back garden I adore my hardy palm like plants like the New Zealand cabbage tree and my red robin bush. I love my shed that is meant to be a summer house. It is great that my son has a wheelchair access ramp. It goes into his bedroom. I am lucky to have a fairly large garden. Last year I bought an electric lawn mower. It is much better than a hand push mower.

Hello Black Rusty. I hope that you are nicely settled into your new place. I like the sound of your bush that was planted in your yard. Thanks for wishing me a great time once it does get sunny and warm.

I would like to get our plants growing but it is still getting frosty at night. Hope to get them in about mid May.

I love gardening, it's supposed to be great if you have depression, I find it so satisfying and you can achieve a lot, it's still a bit too early to sow my seeds, but I have already been out there digging my veggie plot ready for them, we had some great weather for a few days, and today's back to April Showers again, so hopefully early May I can get planting. No matter what weather we get the grass soon grows so quickly. Hand push mowers I hate, they are too much effort, so much better with a flymo, saves your back too.

I only have a container garden, but this year I hope to have a boxed garden put in close to the house and put some vegetables inside it so I can have something to eat without having to worry about pesticides from the food in the grocers. It will also make the space that I use the lawnmower much shorter. I was thinking of having a greenhouse, but right now that is too expensive.

I also love to potter about in my garden adn I currently have 2 weeks off work with a few days out planned but, other than that, my ideal is to get a lot og relaxing time with some spent in the garden potting my tubs etc. So I too hope to get some nice warm, sunny days that I can make the most of.

Yeah, gardening is a great hobby. It is very relaxing as you are with green plants and beautiful flowers. I remember when I was still a kid, I used to help my grannies to do her landscaping at the front of our house when we were still living with her at the old house. I guess that's the best bonding ever the two of us.

Send pictures of your garden, Maxine. Mow I`m planting my winter crop. The chards are thriving (good for them because I discovered yesterday thay they did wonders for hair). I also have arugule (I`m already eating them) and lettuce. I`ll need patience with the lettuce, but as it is sunny yet, maybe they will grow fast.

We too are waiting for the weather to get warm enough to plant outside. It sounds like you have some lovely trees and bushes in your back garden. I'm sure your son will enjoy being outside in the garden. We planted a rhododendron bush in our front yard in 2011. It did not bloom last spring. This year it has several pink buds on it. So, it looks like it will have beautiful blossoms this year. I heard that pine needles were good for the soil around a rhododendron so we put a lot of them in the hole we dug when we planted the bush. We will also plant some flowers, herbs and vegetables. I'm not sure what flowers we will plant yet, but we will plant parsley, tomatoes, green peppers and other herbs and vegetables. I can't wait for the weather to get a little warmer. It has been so cold here this winter and so far this spring. It bothers me when it gets very hot and humid, but I do like it when the temperature is below 80 and it is not humid.

I agree it is such a wonderful thing if you have a garden and are able to work in it. The sun and the new green is so soothing to the spirit. I always feel so peaceful when I have been working in the garden. I also love the planning, the looking forward to planting and then to see what came out and grew nicely and what can be harvested. A garden is full of surprises there is always something new to see. I am always so proud when I had a good harvest, when people like the flowers blooming there and when I got through the whole garden weeding it and there is time to relax and sit in the sun.- Hope your summer house turns out to be really nice. Happy gardening

I used to have my own garden when we were still staying on our former house in the other province. Actually, when we transferred to our present place, I brought with me my plants but due to the place, I guess and not having enough time to take care of those, the plants were all gone. I am hoping to find a good place to live where I can maintain a garden again. It's good to know that you have your own garden. I often heard other people said that people who are fond of gardening the most patient and the are very kind people. have a great day!
