E-books VS 'Tangible' Books

Philippines

I have always been a bookworm. My friends would always refer to me as a geek, because I liked burying my head into those thick novels, rather than go out partying. I am a proud geek, by the way. Even at these days when people don't really go to bookstores as much to buy books, I still prefer to do. I love the smell of a new book, and I love flipping its pages. I love reading on paper than on a tablet. It's always a joy to visualize when I read books this way. What do you think about this? Do you prefer e-books or those old school you gotta touch 'em books? =)

Hi Lizzie I've been wondering what is Tangible books? by the way I also love to read books but with specific topics and interest and I never read novel more of financial literacy and other stuff related to money and business. I am also looking for someone who has the same interest and swap our books for savings, what do you think?

Hi there. Tangible books, those books you can touch, and flip the pages, and smell. Those traditional ones. =) Swapping books? Sure. However, I'm more into novels and fictional best sellers. I'm a sucker for those romance novels. =)

Well, I actually love them both. I don't mind what people have to say but reading books are one of my passion in life. I still love the real books and I have collections of them and I also have my ebook library. I don't actually read them all some of them I just browse, some of them I already finished reading.

Both has its pros and cons. When I was pregnant, I was on bed rest for a few months so I resorted to e-books to keep me company since I can't move around and go out. It's very convenient since I still get to read the latest novels. But I still prefer the printed versions of the books. It gives me joy to go to a bookstore and buy a new book to add into my collection :)

Personally, the bookstore is my heaven on earth. =) I could probably just stay there all day, browsing through their collection. It has everything I'm passionate about. Aside from books, I also like crafts, scrap books, journals.

Whatever it may be, books are books. Books are the source of knowledge. I also like reading books. I would prefer tangible one rather than e books. Though maintainence of e books is easy, i used to lose e books when keeping in computer.

same here! ^^ i love reading books too and even nowadays that e books are so popular and a lot of people are using them instead of tangible books, i prefer the latter one, the traditional one, tangible books! hihi! maybe it's because i love writing too and i usually write notes on the book itself.

Why, I am also a passionate writer. I also have a book with my doodles, on it. That was what I read while pregnant with my first kid. =)

I personally like the tangible books that you can touch. I still haven't gotten used to reading a book on a tablet/ipod/iphone. I tried it with the first Hunger Game book but then after a while I stopped reading the e-book. Until they completely stop making paperback/hardcover books then that's when i will convert to e-books, but until then its tangible books for me...!

I prefer Ebooks, in my job i have to travel a lot so its hard to carry all the books. Its better for me to read it on tablet like you mentioned. With Epub format we can get 300-400 page books in small size like 2-3 mb. I am a big fan of comics too, that too i read on tablet or PC.Anyways that's a good habit you i have of reading books.Best wishes.

I also love to read books. Books are good for the mind. If I am to chose and if it is just for the sake of reading, I prefer e-books. Easier to maintain, read and won't occupy much space but your hard disk. On the other hand, books are good collection. And if signed by the author, it will appreciate value in time. A tangible investment.

Right. I love books so much because they take me to places I haven't gone to. E-books are cool, too. But I just can't leave my hard bounds. =)

I have always enjoyed books and just can't see myself thinking about e-books the same way, but then again I have never tried to read a book that way either. Who knows the way things are going I am sure it will be harder and harder to get real copies of books we would like to read.

I guess you love yourself and the life God have given you, it's same with me also, I'm also same, but not a geek, always been in novels and magazines, but never buried my head onto it, cause you know I love books, so never tried hard, Finishing a novel was just a matter of days, without any effort. But believe me everybody starts the same way that you are doing, it's just that I started this earlier in my childhood. I love all the things about a new book, especially the touch. I have My apple Ipad, with the sharper resolution where words can be as sharp as blade, but I still am not addicted to it, I will run for the pages scorching and the fingers touching, with folded pages. i still love books...

This is the discussion I am actually having with myself ever since e-books were "invented". I love love love physical books as well and I love collecting them. It always relaxes my eyes when I look at my bookshelves. I also have the weird habit of smelling books especially the brand new ones! Now, the practical side of my brain is telling me that I could get the books for free if I use my tablet. I mean there are lots of sources where we could download free ebooks nowadays. I do have a tablet and I have downloaded Aldiko and yes, I admit, I have also downloaded some ebooks on it. But I am still NOT COMFORTABLE reading ebooks. I have managed to complete reading one novel which is in ebook but I struggle with the rest. I feel as if I am not reading a real story unless I read it in an actual paper. Oh well..

Gotta touch 'em all Lizzie ;) My eyes' aren't as good as before so I don't want them to get worse with all the radiation I can get from computer screens. And I usually read comic books, they're lighter in weight and has easy stories so I can read as many as I can in a day. And since they're lighter, I can recline or totally lie down while reading because if I use the laptop, I should be sitting up-straight. Thanks for the discussion! :)
