The three day local absentee voting (LAV) for the May 13 poll starts today,Sunday.,and the Commission on elections is reminding voters to go out and vote. The local absentee voting will start April 28 up to April 30, 2013 which serves as a reminder for our soldiers, teachers, government officials,as well as those who are members of the media who registered under the local absentee. The said individuals were allowed to register for LAV as these are usually the people who are assigned in places where they are not registered voters on election day.A total of 18,332 registered for local absentee voting and 575 of those where from the media. The commission also explained that the counting of votes will be manual meaning they will have to write the names of the candidates in the ballots. They will vote for the national candidates which is composed of 12 senators and a party list as well.

I think I'm not in touch with the political spectrum in our country. I mean, I never knew we had this LAV Although the 18,000-plus absentee voters are a really small percentage of the voting population, let's hope that they'd be spared from any anomalies.

yes you are correct this 18 thousand plus registered for lav is so small because according to what I have read there are 52 million Filipinos who are registered to vote this coming May 13 and I hope too that all these 52 million voters will be spared from anomalies, lies and deceit hahahaha..

Yeah, we really need a clean and honest election, which I think has eluded us ever since we achieved our independence. I'm not that optimistic that all 52 million voters will be spared. But 50 percent would be a great feat already :)
