Our internet sucks

Well its been already one year since we got this internet broadband supported by smart and it really sucks since the day its been connected until now. The worst part would be its 2 year time-lock contract. I was not expecting this very ugly performance that's why I took the risk. Going start-run-cmd and typing "ping www.google.com" always gives me a 1000+ping. I do have some great time during dawn, around 3am-7am but common, who would want to spend $50/month for this internet connection.

You mean Php 2,000 per month? With that amount, that might be a higher mbps, I supposed. We usually pay Php 1,000 for 1 mbps in our area. Have you told the management about the slow internet connection?

Sorry, wrong computation, its supposed to be P1,000 only. haha I keep calling them and telling the problem, but then again, all I get are apologies from them. Besides, I am not the only one subscribing to them in this area. I am pretty sure that they are receiving many complains.

Still you are paying a lot. I have Tikona's internet and I pay 10$ per month (yes, internet is cheap here) and I get 2Mbps speed till 6GB and then 256 Kbps. And i never get that much huge amount of ping. You should change your service provider but I see the problem is a lock contract. If this is how your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is messing with you, then you should consider going to Consumer court. There are authorities who would like to help you. By the way, didn't you review their service before subscribing to 2 year contract?

@ ken: Internet connection depends on many factors. Our computer processor could be one. However, if all of your neighbors are experiencing the same, then you should demand that they should not charge you with those time when you don't have internet service. Hi sejal! Yes I already knew that internet fee is cheaper in your place than ours. I have known it from a fellow mylot member.

you are paying so much. We are getting 15mbps at 20$ per month. We get minimum 10 mbps. Some times we face problems but daily i work fine. Download speed is also getting fine. How much internet speed you are getting? We get more speed if we take 6months or 1year plan.

The highest speed I got so far is 135kbps and its pretty rare to see that speed. That usually appears around 6am in the morning.

This time i guess you have to change your internet provider since its causing you stress, or you need to upgrade your account. Try to call your internet provider customer support and ask possible remedy for low internet connection.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with them for two years. I just don't know but when I subscribe to them. I did not really read the whole terms and ended up with paying for something that is not really doing well to me. I also heard from other subscribers that I need to pay the remaining months even if I won't use it if ever I will decide to terminate the contract with them. A really good way of stealing money from their customers.

I use Globe and I have the same experience as well. There are times when I get a faster connection but most of the time, it just annoys me because I can hardly get a decent connection. And I pay P1000 every month for it! I'm thinking of having it disconnected and will just pay for the charges since it's barely a year when I got my broadband connection. And I'm planning on changing again. I hope PLDT's DSL won't disappoint me :)

I am sorry about your current situation. I believe most internet service providers internet with offers at 3am - 7am. I prefer you to change your internet service provider , or you call them and try to convince them about your current situation

I have experienced the same thing before with my broadband provider but I kept pestering them with questions and whys. So I guess they get annoyed because everyday I called the provider to know when it will be fix. By the way, my provider is also Smart. Yes, they change the one year contract to 2 years. I don't know if I have used it for more than a year because I always apply for temporary cut off when ever when I'm vacationing to another place.
