Being a lover of movies, i have watched many different types of movies, some of them are action. And action these days involve stealing, killing, shooting, and other violent acts. I think some movies are even teaching criminals and giving tips or ideas on how to commit crimes.. It is just sad, and the more i watch violent movies, the more i become passive about the violent stuff happening around me.. i wonder what it does to kids.

Those kind of movies shouldn't be shown to kids that are below 16 years old, I think. Yes there may be a moral lesson in the story but kids 15 below would not realize the lesson yet. What they would remember would be the violence that they have witnessed in the movie. So I strongly suggest that we keep our kids and siblings away from those kind of films.

yes, i definitely agree with you.. but then it is easy to ban kids in cinemas.. it is when the movie comes out in dvds and bluray.. so it is entirely up to the parents to monitor what their kids watch.

So true.A kid's mind readily accepts what they see and they try to implement it.

@else34 yes, it is scarier when a younger child is watching violent stuff since they usually follow what they see on tv

Actually movies effect people a lot, i have experienced it many times that people who watch movies a lot react in certain manner which looks dramatic, however that does not happen with everyone.I agree with you, those violent movies can have bad effects, especially if someone tries to copy stunts shown in those movies.Just few days ago i read a article in newspaper that in our country a child hanged his younger brother because he saw that in the movie an wanted to test it.He convinced his brother about it and then act was gone wrong.Best wishes.

I watch all kinds of movies, sadly i love action too- since it is very exciting.. although i do not consider doing those harmful stuff that i see on tv, unless i am threatened.

NO..they do not PROMOTE... they only SHOW violence..becausae theres already violence in real life..so they bring it into the movies.. THese kind of movies are not for kids..so it will not affect the kid inthe first place. Most violent films are for 18 above..are u 18? most kids who watches those kinda films ..either watched on their own from videos etc.. or exposed to it internet.

Yeah, definitely.. especially kids.. since they absorb the thing that they watch, and they still do not know what is right and wrong, real or not.. They might even do some harmful stuff they see in films.

Yeah, and even tv shows are not for kids anymore. I see lots of violence in animated shows. yes, it is funny but when they try to d it in real life- which is what other kids might try.. it can be life threatening. Like a cartoon, swallowing chemicals or putting some in their eyes.

I think,it depends on the watcher's tendencies.I have watched a lot of movies in which there were a lot of violence, but never got indulged in such acts.On the other hand,I have read about murders that were committed by those who got the idea of killing someone from a movie.Much depends on our conscience.

I agree, the important thing is the attitude of the person watching the movie. good insight

@lady1993 Even the best things in the world can be misused. What's important is how you take it which further depends on your predispositions.

many researcher advice kids to do more outdoor activity than watching movies because many bad outcomes after watching violence movies however I am still struggling to stop my kids watching movies perhaps I should sell the TV at my home so there is no tv at all

that could be a valid option, selling the tv, since you can find news online anyway. kids these days rarely play outside, it is quite sad... it is one way of gaining friends

I don't think so.Movies does not promote violence or crimes,it is how you take it.If your mind is pure and clear no movies can change it.In this way you can blame anyone like news channel for giving you violence news,or even the television or computers which show this type of violence. It is how you take if you take this just a movie or just news then there will be no problem...

yes, you do have a point. It just depends on the person and the lifestyle he leads too.
