Many give today because their religious tenets required that they give to others. For some it is a way of giving back to the society. Still others give more because they really desire to make a difference, create a name or political image for themselves. Yet, are those who give for personal benefits. Each of these groups and others not mentioned give definitely for a reason. However, your reason for giving important as it is has a lot to do with how much you can give. What you give and how you give reflects your person. But, very importantly, you must be careful else you can give aimlessly and not realized the happiness associated with giving. First, consider what the word "GIFT" means in the real sense of it. A gift is that that really meets the need of the recipient or beneficiary. This to me is the first and foremost criteria to consider. For example, will an IPAD be a reasonable gift to a parent who lives where there is no electricity and Internet service? After identifying the need, consider the cost. Is it affordable? An affordable gives the benefactor joy and will likely not expect gratuity from the beneficiary. It's easier to give what you have than what you buy with a credit card. In my opinion give only what you can really give without recourse. This is very important when considering donations to NGO's and similar societies. How much can you give? Is a question to consider when advising others if you work in a gift shop for example or were asked for suggestion. But of interest is also the need to avoid mistaken kindness. Yes, be sure there is a need for the gift. Today, there are professional beggars. Be wary. Ask yourself, if I work to save money, why can't he? In summary, the answer to the question, how much can you give? Involves giving out your trust little at a time. Allowing time to define and establish the real need can save you from scam, in financial matters and even relationships. Tell me in your opinion, 'how much can you give?'

Personally I do not generally just give sums of money to charity. However I am secretary of a local group which is part of a world wide charity specializing in the care of children so I help run the group, organize fund raising events and assist with them.Apart from what I spend on fuel to go to meetings and events I do occasionally purchase items such as prizes for competitions all of which helps
