Have you the right face for your job ?

I am asking this question to myself after I read an article about an English gravedigger fired after 40 years of work because he was smiling and saluting (he says he was just protecting his eyes from the sun) on a photo where he was digging a grave. (it is here, if you are interested : ) To be successful in his job, does a gravedigger needs to be sad and look deathly pale ? Does a teacher needs to look like a egghead ? Does a policeman should look strict and hard ? A bank robber nasty ? I would be tempted to respond yes. By example, as far as I remember (maybe not in the crib, but I don't remember so far) I have always worn beard. I studied law until a PhD, but I should have guessed during the first year, that it was not for me : although maybe 1% of people are bearded in this country, I was the only law student among 800 to wear beard : cast against type. At the end of this 1st year, I worked in a supermarket, during summer holidays, and my boss told me : "If you were staying here, you would have to shave off your beard." I had not the right face to work in a supermarket. Same thing happened to me, the year after, in a bank. Then I bred rabbits for a living during the rest of my studies. They did not complained, so perhaps I had the right face for breeding rabbits ? Finally, I got my first real job after my studies as a representative in an administration where half of the male staff was wearing beards. I realized it one day in a train. I was with two coworkers in a compartment, and at a moment a guy sat in front of us and asked : "Are you working in a company of bearded men ?" Lol, all three of us were bearded. Now, what about you ? Have you the right face for your job ? There is a tiebreaker : can you guess the job of somebody at his face ?
Ray Loxton, 59, who was pictured in the Shepton Mallet Journal smiling, has been told his by one funeral director that his services are no longer required.

In first place it´s incredible that they are passing over his human and civil rights. Is there any contract that forbides to smile?? It´s so shameful. I´d never heard something similar before. Unless he were a british guard, I think it was very unfair. And for your beard, as I´m a woman, I´d think that if you shave it, you´ll be immediatly 25 years younger.

I agree that it is very hard to be fired for a photo after 40 years of work ! British guards are not always so fair than you think, but it would be another story The man on my avatar was exactly 25 years old. You like them very young !

@topffer how exactly you know your avatar age? And the 25 was just figurative as figurative can be Abraham´s age, which is supposed to have lived around 205 hundread years. 25 years might be just like the 10% of your age... thay might be like 5 years, Just 5 years. Or might you be jealous ?

@dainy1313 Lol, it looks like a police investigation. My avatar is a 1843 caricature of the French writer and journalist Albéric Second, born in 1817. Calculate his age by yourself. Although he is forgotten today, I would like to have his writing talent, so perhaps I am jealous .

@dainy1313 Yes, he is bearded, but it is difficult to tell the color of his eyes in a black and white caricature .

What I believe is that I can´t hide my personality. If i have no virtues, my face will show it. So... if I´m evil as evil i can be, myself I couldn´t hide it. But unfortunatly there are hipocrites that are masters of disguise.

I cannot imagine you with a evil face. You are always surrounded by angels. I am not sure that anybody can disguise completely his face.
